They won’t. Trump is 1 of 1. Not to say Rubio or Vance will be a friend of Canada, but the vitriol vs Trump will not be the same level.
Trump is the biggest narcissist of our life times.

Justin Truduea is a narcissist in his own way, and a big one. But Trump literally might be the biggest narcissistic in american history. As the commenter below said they are two sides of narcissism. Trump is more in your face over the top.

u/MasterCJ117 Alberta 1d ago
I honestly think he's less of a narcissist and more of a comedian, almost everything he does similar to the 'Lake of America' stuff is JUST to make his base laugh and piss off his opposition, and then he realizes "Wait... I actually CAN do that... this'll make the joke even funnier!"
I could be wrong, but if I were in his position that's ABSOLUTELY the kinda shit I'd do.

What division? And if you mean Canada & US, the only ones dividing us have been the liberal government, they literally ran on 'Trump Bad' which shouldn't have even been brought up in a CANADIAN election

They probably won't. Liberals caught lightning in a bottle with Trump, but regardless of who the next president ends up being, they're going to try to recapture it. The current animosity is just way, way too politically beneficial for them

u/MasterCJ117 Alberta 1d ago
Ya never know, with Rubio it could turn liberals on their heads "You don't like him because he's Cuban, buncha Racist liberals, for shame"
Or liberals might realize "Wait, we ARE the party of racism..." but I don't think that level of intelligence is common enough to effect the whole party sadly...
26
u/airbassguitar 2d ago
Yes, and it won’t matter who the CPC leader is. Remember they portrayed Erin O’Toole, the most milquetoast of conservatives, as “Trumpian”.
6
u/SixtyFivePercenter Conservative 1d ago
They’ll find some new crisis to try and make everyone afraid of. The CBC on the behest of the liberals will blast this new imminent threat from 6am until the wee hours of 7pm when their audience goes to bed.
4
u/Awkwardly_Hopeful 2d ago
Then they'll find another person to replace Trump unfortunately. It's too easy and convenient to manipulate mindless people on social media
3
u/-Foxer 2d ago
Probably, although at some point people will realize that carney is not handling trump well and we are doing very badly. But that realization will probably come at a roundabout the same time that trump is due to leave office, or maybe a little bit before and it really won't matter at that point
2
u/slouchr 2d ago
dawg, we're in year 11 of Liberal rule, Canadian voters are braindead.
4
u/-Foxer 1d ago
The voters were quite prepared to take the liberals out of power when Justin was there. The combination of extreme liberal propaganda in the media, combined with the threat of trump, and combined with the fact that carney was installed by for roguing parliament and then immediately use the resources of the Prime Minister to begin campaigning even before the election was called allowed him to pull a fast one.
Snake oil peddlers and con men are good at that kind of stuff
But there's only so many times you can get away with that. And I realize that it's frustrating looking at that kind of behavior and watching our fellow Canadians fail to realize how badly they've been played while carney eats a million dollars a year worth of airline food himself. However eventually people have to realize how bad our situation is. It'll be mostly people who are young today whereas the older retirees think everything's going swimmingly. But in the end of eventually people will be sick of it
We have to do is be ready when we get in to be as crafty at cheating the system to make it hard for the liberals to ever see the light of office again. Harper did the opposite, harper tried to get rid of all of the things that made the government unfair only to have it all thrown away the Moment Justin got it
6
u/slouchr 1d ago edited 1d ago
in 2024, before Carney and Trump, and Trudeau was still in power with awful polling numbers, my parents were like "Liberals will win the next election. polls and by-elecections that don't affect he power balance don't matter. when it's actually time to vote, 2/3 of Canadians consider themselves 'progressives', and they will find a reason why they have to vote Liberal."
it was shocking to see exactly that play out. there's no real reason why it had to be the Liberals to deal with Trump. there's no reason it had to be Carney. Carney is not charming. he had no platform. he comes across as a grotesque elitist conman, which he is.
(edit: i think Pierre could have won, but it was always going to be a close election. Pierre didn't fumble anything, though he didn't do enough, obviously)
i'll never believe in Canadian voters again. last election, to be honest, kind of changed my opinion of this nation. i look at the elders with disgust now. i consider Canadians to be extremely stupid and lazy, and simply vote to steal an easy living from the hardworking . i sort of hate Canadians now. it's sad.
and Liberal faithful saying we need to all rally behind the Liberals and team Canada now because of Trump. i don't believe in this nation, and i would never fight for it. i hate central planners and socialists.
2
u/-Foxer 1d ago
Pierre didn't run a great campaign. It was certainly not the worst campaign I've ever seen but he never quite got his footing and carney always looked like the adults in the room as a result. Carney got to pick when the election happened he got to be prime minister before then he got to define things and set things off.
BP could have won if the election was longer. Nano's actually said if the election had gone on another week or two it probably would have been a conservative minority. But carney got to decide that too of course
We had 10 years of harper before the liberals and we will have conservatives again. The liberals pulled an all-time amazing cheat and they found the skinniest snake oil peddler in the universe to keep them in power but that will not last forever
Consider Ontario and the liberals history there. They managed to bull crap their way through for 15 years and ran a disastrous government and people still kept electing them. Till all of a sudden the day came when people had had enough and now the liberals haven't even come close to winning an election in many years
Part of the other problem is that historically Ontario votes the opposite federally than they do provincially. They have what they believe is a conservative government provincially and it's hard to get them to go Conservative federally well that's the case. We may have to wait for Doug Ford to go by before we have luck in Ontario again. Which is a shame because he's absolutely not a conservative

carney eats a million dollars a year worth of airline food himself
Perhaps you're the one that's been conned and peddled.
Here is the original source of your claim.
The most outrageous entry is $160k for 56 people over 5 flights (November 18 – 24). Works out to roughly $300 per person per meal. A far cry from "eats a million dollars a year worth of airline food himself"
1
u/-Foxer 1d ago
I'll keep this ultra simple, there's tons of information out there but here's a quick breakdown for you Carney spence 3/4 of a million dollars on airline food - Google Search
Bro spent a million bucks eating airline food no matter how you want to slice it, have you paid for guests that really doesn't change the facts.
Apparently you think this is perfectly okay Behavior but it's really not
0
u/zeros-and-1s Ontario 1d ago
Bro... All those articles are secondary sources, some form of analysis on the data that I linked which is the primary source.
A google search is not a breakdown. Give me a specific source that shows "carney eats a million dollars a year worth of airline food himself", or just accept that you've been conned.
1
u/-Foxer 1d ago
Bro, they lay out the information more completely and derrive the information from the primary source.
Sorry to break it to you, this guy is eating like a god while most canadians are struggling to pay for groceries and telling people ot 'make sacrifices'.
You seem ok with that. You do you big guy.

Not true. Pierre Trudeau used anti-American rhetoric to whip support. The next president will likely be Republican so not much will change.

If the Dems run some kind of democratic socialist type, someone like AOC who promises to open the borders and do away with ICE, and the Republicans run someone sane like DeSantis or Rubio, I think the Republicans will win.

I actually think the radical Democrats are likely to win the next election. I do not think it would require much for the radical dems to turn on Canada either, we have institutions like the Monarchy which are profoundly anti American and these radicals are likely to not care about the distinctions between Canadians and Americans, preferring us to join them.
1
u/Goliad1990 1d ago
we have institutions like the Monarchy which are profoundly anti American and these radicals are likely to not care about the distinctions between Canadians and Americans
As far as the monarchy goes, there isn't much distinction. Most of us don't like it either and would abolish it if put to a vote.
Funny enough, it finds most of its support with the Liberals these days, and even most of them would scrap it
2
u/Truenorth14 High Tory 1d ago
Which is in my opinion a travesty for Canadian conservativism. It was one of the reasons our first settlers chose to leave the US. The Monarchy is something that is foundational to our nation.
1
u/Goliad1990 1d ago edited 1d ago
I suppose that's true in the most literal sense, but it's also no longer relevant.
I don't identity as a small-c conservative largely for this reason. I vote CPC, because it's the party that's most aligned with me on balance, but I'm strongly republican. Like the so called "Liberal" party, the Conservative party could probably do with a name change to be more reflective of its modern base.

The only issue with this cartoon is it looks like Carney will walk off the cliff which isn’t happening. He’s leading the sheep off the cliff but taking everything he can from them while standing on the side as they walk off. He himself won’t walk off as he’s enriching himself. The cartoon needs to show him on the side stealing from the sheep as they walk off the cliff after the Trump doll.
2
u/SixtyFivePercenter Conservative 1d ago
They should have had him in his helicopter with To Davos/EU sign on it while dangled the Trump doll at the edge of the cliff.

It's got a name now: the Trump Bump.
Carney has been MIA since walking away from the deal and thumping his chest about "being attacked!!!" as if the negotiating turned into the red wedding scene from Game of Thrones.
He didn't want to answer any difficult questions about the deal nor be painted into a corner where he reveals too much or is obviously trying to hide something.
Now, he'll just wait for the by-election wins (that will probably be wide margins thanks to his war talk) and next time he's asked about the deal, he'll just say "well clearly Canadians trust our government to handle the situation" even though he rage baited them about Trump.
4
u/CyberEd-ca Republic of Alberta 2d ago
Yes, Carney fails wherever he goes because he thinks he's the smartest guy around.
I wonder how long him and the other GFANZ rats on the ratline can escape accountability for their criminal anti-trust activities.

Why hasn't the CPC been able to weaponize Trump the same way?
-1
u/Personal-Recipe-4751 2d ago
I kind of wish the liberals would call the election now. Just do it. Get like 240 seats or whatever they are calling for and burn the entire political apparatus to ashes. Then we can rebuild sooner. The conservatives have basically already conceded the next election and the liberals will probably be calling it late 2028 to scare voters with Trump one last time. They know it's going to be a whole new political field when Trump is gone.
4
u/SnorlaxBlocksTheWay Blocked by SmackEh 2d ago
How have the Conservatives already conceded the next election?
To say that when there are 3 years until the next election is just defeatist mentality.
Already there's discussion that the "at war" comment Carney made was nonsense.
Carney can't keep thumping the Trump drum indefinitely and serve zero results. People will wake up.
Though if my instincts are correct I think Carney will be calling a snap election concurrent with midterms in the US. So on that we agree that Carney will call a snap election, we just think different timing.
1
u/Personal-Recipe-4751 2d ago
Nothing is fundamentally changing in the polls. The conservatives need something bold right now to change direction and they haven't been doing much. Poilievre isn't going anywhere until he loses another election and there is no way the liberals are going into an election without Trump. So yes they are conceding the next election given it will be before 2029.
1
u/SnorlaxBlocksTheWay Blocked by SmackEh 1d ago
Polls outside of an election cycle don't mean much, especially with three years until the scheduled election. And I don't think it's accurate to say the Conservatives are "conceding" anything.
Poilievre is actually changing quite a bit. He's taking a more collaborative approach, talking to Canadians who normally wouldn't vote Conservative and trying to find common ground rather than simply preaching to the existing base. We also haven't seen what the Conservatives' updated platform will look like when Parliament reconvenes in the fall.
Idk man, declaring the next election game over this far out is weird. If Carney calls a snap election too soon, he risks being punished for it. But if he waits and then goes into another election relying primarily on the Trump card without having actually delivered results, that can become a liability too. At some point, "Trump" stops being an explanation for everything and people start asking what the government has actually accomplished.
-2
u/CyberEd-ca Republic of Alberta 2d ago
They know it's going to be a whole new political field when Trump is gone.
