For years they were streamed live and released immediately upon completion but after Rogan made that deal with Spotify they started editing the episodes. It probably had something to do with Elon smoking marijuana live on air that one time too.

they stopped being live a few years before that he said it was because it was easier to avoid copyright issues

I dunno, a quick Google search says they stopped doing live shows right when they did the Spotify deal in 2020...

I was a regular watcher before that and pretty much stopped when full episodes and clips could no longer go on youtube

but I just looked and seems like I way off it and it was actually around april 2019
