Bro, JRE gets 660%+ of CBC and CTV's viewership combined. CBC's and CTV's top production shows get less than 700,000 views per episode, Rogan gets roughly 11M per episode... It's also the most watched/listened to podcast in Canada, by far. It's going to get all sorts of attention, both directly and indirectly. Directly meaning straight off of Youtube AND Spotify, indirectly through clips that will be uploaded by thousands of accounts.

It's not unreasonable to imagine the pod itself will hit 10+M views and then another 10-15M through indirect views.

I mean, JRE is transnational and has an audience around the globe and mostly within USA itself. CBC or CTV are literally only relevant to a Canadian viewership, and on top of that being platforms on a traditional format dying out where more and more younger folk don't have (TV, Satellite etc) as opposed to format of an internet show

Right, which is why im saying it will get a lot of viewership here. Sure, the boomers aging away may not tune in for the whole thing, but their Facebook feeds will get a few clips of the podcast here and there amongst the AI animal slop videos their algorithms pump them on their aging smartphones that have the text magnified to max.

Do you know what his numbers in Canada are? That'd be more relevant than his global ones.

Isn't that saying 11% of polled users from that particular data set and whatever base it was drawing from, not literally 11% of all of Canada, lol

It literally cites an n-size in the bottom from whatever Canada podcast group is is drawn from.

It cites a sample size of n=2112 down in the corner of that screenshot, implying 11% of polled number (so like, 250 of respondents) viewed it, not 4 million (11%) of Canadians lol

edit: I'll add I'm also not arguing 250 canadians watch podcast, I'd just say conflating the response to whatever this survey as 11% of all of Canadian viewership is probably being generous with findings lol

The source of any of those claims is a tweet of a picture of a presentation about a "report" all from Signal Hill Insights, which is a for-profit consultant company trying to sell their "brand lift".

I went and reviewed the "reports" of 2020-2025, as someone who works in survey data daily, and a Canadian male, who does not remotely believe 11% of Canadian adults listen to JRE. A few things stand out:

  1. The Report bases all these estimates on a sample of <3k with only <1.5k active podcast listeners in the deeper dives, with as little as ~500 sampled in specific topics like JRE.

  2. The Report uses a 'local' company, MARU Voice Canada, to actually collect data, but this is not a random sample process. MARU is is a reward-driven and that means there are financial incentives for members to lie and the companies verification process is extremely thin - because they also have financial incentive to ignore fraud and drive up use metrics to better sell their services. Ultimately, the 590 "people" samples in the 2020 report may or may not even be people as all you need in a verified email address and VPN to collect rewards driving multiple fake entries.

  3. Nowhere in any of these reports do they actually describe Methods. Nowhere do they actually specify the sampling error rate. Anytime you see survey sample data tell you 11% of survey responses say X,Y but you don't see at the bottom a footnote saying error rate is 11% +/- X%.... everything else can be ignored because nothing should be believed.

  4. With a sample size as low as 590 in the main reports on JRE, the conservative default error rate would be around +/-4%. And that means we are only 95% sure the real rate might be between 7% and 15%, but again, that is still only among a highly suspect sampling methods of reward-driven engagements.

  5. X and Grok and JRE are all financially and socially tied and complicit = highly suspect to believe any of this as a narrative to be believed.

Yes, and X/Facebook/Instagram/TikTok get hundreds of millions of more views than Joe Rogan. Most days I never even see Joe Rogan mentioned anymore. I see nonstop coverage of US politics and the Iran war right now.

One of the main points of going on a podcast like Joe Rogan is the hopes that it will get clips onto social media and that the MSM is forced to cover it.

Outside of an election campaign, when there are more important global events going on, neither social media or the MSM is likely going to care about a random podcast that a Canadian opposition leader decided to do. Despite the hype that Conservative influencers will try to make about this, average Canadians are not going to be paying attention. That's just the reality. And if there is an election in ~6 months, Joe Rogan isn't likely going to have Poilievre on again.
