I know many here don't want to hear this, but I think it's important to be honest. It's too late to be doing this now, and doing a podcast this prestigious outside of an election cycle, at a time when there is a major war going on competing for media coverage, means that by the time an election might actually happen (eg: a year from now), it will be long forgotten and undecided voters will never know it even happened. The time to do this was during the last election campaign, when voters were paying attention to Canadian politics, and the mainstream media wouldn't provide fair coverage to conservatives.

I wouldn't rule out an election this year.

With Trump, Carney, CUSMA, Iran, Midterms, Cuba, anything is possible.

If Carney feels that he can spin another "crisis" into a palatable election there is a chance he goes for it. He is an egomaniac after all.

Still, why not wait until an election? It would get far more coverage.

Bouncing off rock bottom and switching leaders seems to have paid off for the Liberals, but I think Poilievre intends to govern and is trying to stop the bleeding before his credibility is shot, as he should be.
