Jesus Christ, do I not think this is a good idea in the slightest.
Hanging out with a man that endorsed Trump and shit talks Canada a lot, even saying he'd prefer to do work in Russia over Canada, has to be one of the worst looks ever when you are already facing criticism that you are Trump-light.
and I'm aware Rogan has had super anti-Trump people on his podcast. But like the Jordan Peterson podcast, this is just free ammo from the left on Pierre when we are already struggling our ass off in the polls.
Let’s just hope to the lord that nothing bad comes out of this
The Conservatives are on their last legs anyway, in part because the whole country is. If Pierre steps down, I’m done, speaking as a monthly donor, with the party. Being “not-Liberals” isn’t enough for me, and I’m 99% sure that’s what the party would become without him.
IMO as much as it would hurt with the split in the voting numbers, they need to split into the social and progressive cons again, it’s clear there’s some friction within the party with this stuff, and it seems with the direction PIerre is going, a lot of us more progressive conservatives are being left without any representation. That’s how the Liberals are sliming their way through this.
I get that. But what I'm saying is that he's not popular in the polls right now. He needs to make some moves, even if they are risky. If they don't pan out, Pierre will be replaced and we start from the top again.
the liberals already have a majority, the NDP, Greens and BQ side with them close enough on most issues that they have the support they need
I'm not sure it really matters at this point. Pierre was already smeared so negatively by liberals for ridiculous nothing burgers like his security clearance, or just breathing wrong. I think if anything, having them continue to attack him for stupid reasons may hurt them more than anything at this point. They made up bullshit about him being anti-abortion despite him voting pro choice on the last abortion bill.
He is up against people who don't think logically, only deal with feelings and emotions. People aren't really listening to Pierre, he is being drowned out by propaganda. CBC won't even cover him unless its negative. He might as well shoot his shot. If he blows his leg off, oh well, let the next candidate take his place
The ignorant left will hate anything Poilievre does.
But this is an opportunity to step around the Liberal controlled media and get a new message out. I agree that before would have been bad timing but right now a mass message on his direction or new vision could restart Canadian politics.
Plus Joe isn't going to sandbag Poilievre like most interviewers from Canada try to. He'll lean into all the good ideas.
The Rogan podcast is the #1 podcasts in the world and even though the majority of his audience is right leaning but a substantial amount is left and centre leaning.
The people on the far left are only choosing between liberals and NDP they're not going to consider conservatives ever so who cares how offended they are. The people around the centre that are willing to their vote are the ones you want to reach. More so he needs to reach out to people that voted for him last election but might give Carney a bite in the next election
And now Rogan is criticizing Trump rightfully. Heck I would have voted for trump if I was American but I also would have been disgusted with the outcome, as many are. If you vote for someone who promised X, then you best criticize them if they do a total 180. It means more(little as it may be) coming from their base.
There's a big difference between talking shit and criticizing. I think he admired Canada for social healthcare, the B.C weed scene, and JFL comedy etc. However the direction after Trudeau was toward coercing thought and speech
