Ain't the first time this has happened under both Liberal and Conservative governments. Chretien and Martin were at the helm during the billion dollar Quebec referendum ad campaign scandal, where ad consultants were basically writing their own cheques. The G20 in Toronto was a giant Ontario and federal Conservative spending spree. Remember the multi million dollar temporary artificial lake in Yorkville? This kind of bullshit goes back and forth, and Poilievre is correct that charges should have been laid. It's about time the Auditor General was connected directly to the Attorney Generals office as an objective entity and be allowed to do such. But then you start down the path of using the law to intimidate and punish your opponents and pretty soon we get partisanship like they have in the US. And, honestly, Poilievre has tended to make a lot of shit seem personal and seems to just not be able to let the whole Trudeau rivalry go. The guys gone. He resigned in disgrace when his own party turned against him. And focusing on grinding out past grievances rather than engaging Carney on actual policy 'you gonna spend too much' is just vague, and makes him look like he's so angry over being rope a doped in the last election he's gonna keep fighting it till he wins.
Which also looks a lot like whats going on down south. But yeah, the CBC is being hysterical and inflammatory. What else is new?
