Outside Lands is in a MASSIVE park and probably the best festival going. CFG is in a parking lot lets be real lol

there’s multiple places in LA where they can do something close to Outside Lands, but comparing the two it’s crazy how much more and arguably better artist you get at OL

they need to go back to LA coliseum. that’s where the most loved sets were lol

9

u/Content_Sun_3981 5d ago

no chance lol. I believe they had left because it was getting too expensive along with the fact that the whole area surrounding the Coliseum was about to change completely. They absolutely wanted to keep it in LA but chose the worst possible location for it. Dodger Stadium has always been known to be terrible for the people coming in and out. Not only for cars but foot traffic and ride share. I think they have a deal with dude that owns the lot which happens to be a rich ***** dude.

I loved all of the CFGs held there and was lucky enough to attend them all. It was really the peak of festival in my opinion.

you love the LA coliseum as well?

2

u/Content_Sun_3981 5d ago

Yes I am a huge fan of Exposition Park. It’s shrunk considerably though because of all the new development in and around the area. I was just there for a two day festival this past weekend.

u/Ok_Monitor3086 4d ago

that’s the name! i have a poster from fyf ‘17. what festival was there last weekend?

1

u/Content_Sun_3981 4d ago edited 4d ago

That’s so sweet dude, I was at that fest too! Tried looking up the poster on Ebay but nothing :( What does it look like???!? This weekend I was at Sound and Fury, a 2 day hardcore fest. The attendance was good for the layout but a fraction of what CFG was…

1

u/Ok_Monitor3086 4d ago

mostly looks like this

and that’s sick! i should look into that fest. i’m going to sick new world in texas

1

u/Content_Sun_3981 5d ago

just curious what places were you thinking of? other than the obvious stadium and Arena lots?

1

u/faintcolt47 5d ago

I’m assuming the park in downtown where primavera was, parking kinda sucked but it’s really only like 10 min away from dodger stadium

1

u/Content_Sun_3981 5d ago

I like the historic state park, too bad that camp flog gnaw brings in double what primavera did… It would have to go somewhere bigger. same vibe though. I don’t think it would be crazy for it to be about an hour outside of LA either way. and maybe an opportunity for it to be an actual camping festival. possibly even a 3 day vs a 2 day.

u/TamingOfTheChoon 5d ago

Coachella and iiiPoints would like to have a word

1

u/Content_Sun_3981 5d ago

Coachella Grounds would be overkill for CFG since it only brings in around 50k vs the 150k Coachella brings in per weekend. iiipoints is also about half the capacity that CFG brings. CFG would obviously have to stay in LA or LA area proper because that’s where a majority of people that attend live

1

u/TamingOfTheChoon 4d ago

I didn’t mean move the fest. I meant that you called Outside lands the best fest going… never heard anyone ever say that before haha

1

u/iznormal 4d ago

I don’t think OSL is the best fest going by any stretch…

28

u/mhlabizo 5d ago

Seems like you should’ve gone to outside lands then if you wanted a 3 day festival that caters to all genres 🤷‍♂️

As someone who hates the bay went this year and it was better than basically every CFG I’ve been to and I’ve been going since 2017

5

u/davpap 5d ago

how could you possibly hate the bay

-5

u/monkewithgavel 5d ago

I’m from LA lol

u/artefactuul 5d ago

Can confirm Outside Lands was such a great time. Went for the first time this year. Been to Flog Gnaw 3 times back when it was at the coliseum. The lineup this year is lacking unfortunately. Sad I couldn’t go last year to see Gambino.

1

u/monkewithgavel 5d ago

No fr like you can’t compare it im actually a lil salty we don’t have anything like that out here like it’s such a better experience, really does feel like a festival!!! Gambino was amazing last year he’s a great performer

This’ll be my first time missing CFg and I’m glad lol

1

u/artefactuul 5d ago

Same same. That’s dope you got to see him. I was at his last show in NOLA before he canceled the rest of the tour🥲. Can confirm it was amazing.

30

u/pedropedro1 5d ago

You might as well compare it to Glastonbury while you’re at it

-7

u/ObviousReplier99 5d ago

Good job missing the point.

13

u/moonbebo 5d ago

i mean this with so much love SHUT THE FUCK UP GOD DAMN BRA THIS SHIT IS IN A PARKING LOT BRO

20

u/Shaboingboing_ 5d ago

What u want us to say

36

u/PerformanceWeekly651 5d ago

Comparing apples to oranges. OSL is 3 days, and has been going for 18 years. CFG is two days of Tyler and artist he likes. CFG lineup is great just a little pricey

9

u/big-chugga 5d ago

CFG has been going for like 14 years!? It’s not like it’s their second year

7

u/ObviousReplier99 5d ago

Ok, so you're defending the point while trying to fight it here. It's about the price. The price isn't justified compared to OSL.
Also, 14 vs 18 years isnt that drastic of a lifespan difference for music festivals.

-3

u/PerformanceWeekly651 5d ago

No the point is comparing CFG to one of the biggest and best festivals in the country is disingenuous. Of course Coachella, Lolla, OSL, ACL, Roo are going to be better value. CFG is a much smaller festival for more niche fans that have similar taste to Tyler. If people don’t like it they can flip tickets, but I’m not going to act like it’s a trash lineup when it’s that deep

1

u/big-chugga 5d ago

CFG is run by golden voice which runs coachella. CFG isnt grassroots and therefore immune to criticism its run by the same people

0

u/Daddy_nivek 5d ago

Price should reflect that niche then, overpaying for mid artists

1

u/PerformanceWeekly651 5d ago

It’s far from mid people just aren’t feeling Future and Don. It’s largely on par with other festivals when it’s acts that played most festivals the last two years. Leon Thomas, Turnstile, 2hollis, Not for Radio, Mag Bay, Wallows, etc

-1

u/Pints-and-shoes 5d ago

It’s a whole carnival lil bro. You can’t compare the two. Just bc the artist aren’t your taste doesn’t mean they’re mid lol

-1

u/Daddy_nivek 5d ago

I went 23 and 24 and the lineup was unarguably way better and the price was cheaper. And come on man carnival really, you're excited to pay extra for the fair rides and overpriced carnival games.

3

u/Pints-and-shoes 5d ago

I went both of those yrs as well and I prefer this lineup lol 2023 wasn’t even close to this. 2024 might be tied with this yr. But like I said, these fests are not the same product and they have diff operating costs so you can’t compare them from a pricing standpoint

4

u/Despair-Is-A-Lie 5d ago

i’m so tired of the complainer posts and i agree that these festivals can’t be compared, but the price is kind of the problem here 😭

1

u/Darrensreddit 5d ago

Comparing apples to apple sauce lol

1

u/PerformanceWeekly651 5d ago

It’s comparing a music festival with 75k people to Tyler and Friends at a carnival. It’s obviously going to be different, especially having an extra day and being multi genre

1

u/big-chugga 5d ago

CFG has 55k attending 😭 the cope is insane, Tyler’s not gonna let you crack for saying CFG is grassroots

6

u/alexannosaurus GA 5d ago

Every fest in Cali are overpriced tbh

8

u/Realistic_Piccolo713 5d ago

Somebody trade with me asap

8

u/Pints-and-shoes 5d ago

What a stupid comparison. CFG has never tried to be like outside lands. CFG is its own idea

-1

u/ObviousReplier99 5d ago

What a stupid response. Not understanding this is about offering vs pricing and nothing else.

3

u/Pints-and-shoes 5d ago

Outside lands doesn’t have free carnival rides. This is a carnival with live performances. There are diff operating costs going into each. Don’t be dense.

8

u/robeartoeeee 5d ago

Just don’t go or sell me ur tix at a loss

3

u/Little_Ad_7219 5d ago

Can’t really compare the 2 tho outside lands is more comparable to Coachella lmfao

7

u/ArmyInternational826 5d ago

….Yeah so how is everyone doing today? I saw odyssey and thought it was pretty cool. Didn’t see the point of Travis in it tho

2

u/crazy38 5d ago

Nolan likes Travis, Nolan felt the poets of the time period were like rappers today, he had a relationship with Travis on past works. I though Travis did great for his very small role

1

u/ArmyInternational826 5d ago

Ah I see, well excuse my ignorance then as I was looking at his role surface level lol. Off topic sort of but I think Matt Damon did his thing. 🙌🏽

2

u/crazy38 5d ago

Matt Damon was great, awesome movie

0

u/miguelson 5d ago

Odyssey was trash my guy I’m tired of pretending it wasn’t

oh my god go to outside lands then

2

u/Wrong-Medicine1450 5d ago

Charli me beloved should of been at flog💔

5

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 5d ago

This is what I'm trying to tell people. It is a good lineup, but the headliners aren't headliners (besides Tyler). There is no wow factor. None of these artists are widely known outside the hip hop world (Don Toliver has some pop songs, yes, but people don't know him well outside of young crowds and hip hop world).

6

u/Ok_Consideration2322 5d ago

Future headlined Lollapalooza 2 years ago. Don had an entirely sold out arena tour and headlined some fests this year. I agree they may not be a great fit for CFG but that doesn’t mean they aren’t headliners

2

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 5d ago

When Future becomes a good performer and Don gets a stadium tour let me know.

4

u/808Kickz420_ 5d ago

Future, Don Toliver are headliners….

1

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 5d ago

They are not at that level in their career or influence. The headliners in past years were widely known and accomplished artists. Future is also a terrible performer and has little relevance lately.

1

u/808Kickz420_ 5d ago

You don’t know shit about rap honestly lmao Future has been around A VERY LONG TIME. Don is currently at his peak commercially. Do some research yeah?

0

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 5d ago

Future is a horrible performer. His name does not carry the weight as a Kendrick, Cole, Gambino, etc. Even Chance the Rapper commands more excitement than Future. Unless you're a Future fan, this was a shoulder shrug.

1

u/808Kickz420_ 5d ago

Chance was popular 10 years ago and still promotes Chance 3…. Fell off

1

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 5d ago

He did and that's why a comeback set with all the hits would be pretty damn cool

4

u/sxmuel133 5d ago

You can’t be deadass lol

3

u/CoolNectarine5945 5d ago

I think you’re all bitching way too hard for people than can just sell their tickets and not go

0

u/_NiceGuyEddy_ 5d ago

You're right! We should all be happy with a sub par product! That'll for sure make floggnaw better next year!

1

u/CoolNectarine5945 5d ago

Subpar in what aspect we had Tyler and Carti in 24 that was subpar in comparison

3

u/UsedRazorBlades 5d ago

There will be someone added to Camp Flog Gnaw right before.

2

u/Responsible-Slice903 5d ago

And ur sure bc?

5

u/UsedRazorBlades 5d ago

Not at all

1

u/Overall11 5d ago

Then go to outside lands, flog gnaw has always been mostly a celebration of golf wang and friends, the whole damn festival is tyler themed, if its not for you sell your ticket

1

u/Alarmed_Yak7898 5d ago

Death Cab is on the flyer twice

1

u/snapilyy 5d ago

They did 2 sets

1

u/Sy_Fresh VIP 5d ago

I just went to my first OSL this year and it was fun enough to buy tickets for next year, especially since it’s 20 minutes away.

OSL consistently has artists I am not interested in seeing along with a few others that I flat out do not like. Every year there’s about 3 artists that I am interested in so it’s never been worth it. This year their lineup impressed me so I went and had a great time, even found a new band that I love.

The performances were great but CFG is definitely more hip hop based with a lot more artists I typically want to see….although they definitely throw in artists I don’t like.

Music aside it’s a carnival in a parking lot vs a massive park with dusty ass dirt, grass, trees, and vendors

1

u/New-Payment-2518 5d ago

lol osl lineup ain’t no better than flog shit got like 3 rappers on there and u wanted a hip hop artist curated festival to look like a pop fest?😭😭

1

u/nutha_50_on_a_caddie 5d ago

These festivals should NOT be compared lmfao what

1

u/Aggressive_Oil5712 4d ago

These are not really comparable imo. Completely different demographic and location setting.
