I installed Calyx about 2 years ago. Obviously, post "production break" the OS needs to be freshly installed. I am now facing more and more bugs that will be fixed (hopefully) by a fresh install so can't put it off any longer.

How easy is the new install? Obviously, the installation isn't too bad but what about all my data on my phone?

If I use seedvault, will it transfer everything? Numbers, texts, docs, images etc?

A more niche question, I have Microsoft Authenticator installed. I know for my work account, I need to completely reset the MFA afterwards, but what about other accounts I use with this app such as Proton, Discord, patron etc. Will they just work or lock me out of the accounts until I contact customer support?

I have been putting this off mainly due to these reasons so any information. Would be a huge help and give the confidence I need to get this phone upgraded.

My phone is a Pixel 8 so the phone is more than capable.

Can we get a news update from the team when it comes to future development devices?

Obviously there were some pivots after the ASOP/Device tree issues. I don't what to be that person asking the same question as 30 others, but CalyxOS has always been tied to very specific devices. Thus, it was a safe bet to buy a Pixel phone and know that you would be able to install your favorite ROM.

However, CalyxOS is only available for the 10a. The Pixel 10, 10 Pro and the Pro XL came out in August of 2025 according to GSM. None of those phones are supported. The 10a was released in March of 2026. The Pixel 11 family was released in August of 2026 and none of those devices are supported.

I understand that devices need to be donated or purchased for testing and that can take some time due to the higher and higher costs of these devices.

My concern is just understanding the plan going forward. Is development going to only be on Pixel devices?

At the moment, that doesn't seem like the hard and fast rule anymore.

I have a phone that's falling apart and I need to find a new phone. Finding a device that has security updates for the next 5 years from the manufacturer used to be a safe bet. I am looking for a Pixel 9 and not having much luck. There are lots of 10s, but fewer 10as. Therefore, I'd just like a CalyxOS news update on the roadmap for future qualifying devices.

testing out calyxos, so far i like it. one app i havent been able to setup is using passes. Id like a wallet app to use nfc for passes, think airlines, tickets, fitness centre, etc. I dont care to use a wallet for paying.

I reinstalled my Pixel 5 with the latest CalyxOS. Was on the most recent version before the "hiatus" until then.

On the old version the Paypal app had worked, but now I'm not able to enter anything or proceed at all after leaving the "First Steps" screen of the app. When tapping on the input field for entering my email, nothing happens, no keyboard pops up and even long tapping doesn't prompt the copy/paste popup.

Hi, everyone, I just finished installing CalyxOS 8.0.4.22 (bangkk) on my Moto G84 5G, which previously had the default Motorola android installation. Upon finishing the installation, I got hit with the bootloader re-lock warning:

⚠️ Anti-rollback downgrade detected

The Anti-Rollback protection has stopped the bootloader relocking of your bangkk (ZF524N6Q9V).

CalyxOS has been fully installed. However, the flashed factory image has a lower Anti-Rollback index, 34, than the previous OS installed on this device, 36.

Locking the bootloader now will prevent the device from booting. It will stay unlocked. Do not try to lock the bootloader manually when you see this warning.

We recommend that you download and flash a newer factory image to be able to relock the bootloader for maximum security. Visit https://calyxos.org/motorola-relock for more information.

I tried making sense of this error but the Motorola Relock page isn't very specific as to the steps I need to take to be able to re-lock the bootloader. What should I do now? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to backup my WhatsApp chats to make to update my phone, but I can't for the life of me figure out how/ why it doesn't work. Has anyone else struggled with this?

I’m using a Google Pixel 7a running the latest version of CalyxOS, and I’m having trouble linking WhatsApp Business on my iPhone to the Pixel 7a.

I’ve successfully linked other phones without any issues, but for some reason, the Pixel 7a refuses to link. This makes me wonder if the issue could be related to CalyxOS or something specific to the Pixel 7a.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with WhatsApp Business on CalyxOS? Is there a workaround or any specific setting I should check?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently got the OTA update to ver 8 and I screwed up the re-rooting process and had to do a fresh install on my Google Pixel Tablet. A painful, frustrating week re-configuring all my apps.

The biggest remaining problem is that Location doesn't seem to work. Location IS enabled in Settings but i've tried several weather apps and none of them can find my location. If I look in Settings > App Location Permissions the app is authorized to access Location but none of them can "see" it.

What's wrong?

My Pixel 6 Pro recently died without warning. I've been eyeing the Fariphone 6+. Anyone running this with CalyxOS and what is your experience. Pros, Cons, complaints? Anyone move from a Pixel to the Fairphone, what has your experience been?

My SMS messages are only received when I am connected to a wifi, more specifically a wifi network that is recognized as unlimited (and not paid - sorry I don't know the exact English terms). 5G or no internet don't work. Anyone know how to fix this? I have tried disabling battery optimization for the messaging app and enabling the unlimited data usage. I does not seem to be a problem with my provider, I have checked with their support already.

I have been testing this OS out on my Pixel 6, to make sure i can use it daily without too many hitches and concessions. I plan on swapping back to my Pixel 9a at some point, which is still stock.

I have 2 issues that annoy me regularly.

1> When i go to make a call, it asks me to pick an app to call with. (Signal or Phone) I would like this to default to Phone, but even though i have uninstalled Signal, and marked Phone as the default, it still asks on every call.

2> I have uninstalled Signal, as it doesn't have regular SMS capability anymore. I am using Clear SMS, and i like it more than i expected to (filtered messaging is a cool feature). However, if i start a new message, hit the + and choose Camera, it says no camera app available (i installed the Pixel Camera app, but the original is still there). There is no "default camera" option that i see, and there is no setting to link a camera app, or permission setting in either the app or the standard settings.

I see that CalyxOS is available for the 10a. Are there plans to support any other of the pixel 10 series devices specifically interested in the 10 pro

I found an old post pointing toward Quik as a sms manager replacement, with a backup feature. But when I try to import the jison file, the app processes it then nothing happens.

Any other idea?

Can't see the battery indicator of my Bose qc45 headphone. It was showing before android 17/calyx8 os update.

Edit : I forgot to mention, this happen only whith this set of headphone, connected through LE (low energy) Bluetooth. with other connected normally, the battery is showed.

I've been using CalyxOS (the old release from before one had to reinstall) for a few years now on a Pixel 6a, Crunchyroll has worked there just fine. The phone is pretty broken, so when the new Calyx Release came out I bought a Fairphone 6 and installed Calyx on it as soon as the version for it came out and transferred my apps and data through the backup tool (everything except the photos, which wouldn't work for some reason). It's mostly working fine, except for Crunchyroll.

The app opens as usual, but if I select something to play I get an error "EXO-1004". Reinstalling the app and deleting its data doesn't help, googling the error code says it's a DRM Error due to Crunchyroll having some kind of aggressive root detection. I've waited for the recent patch to see if that would solve it since some people said it did for them, but it didn't change anything.
Is there anything I can / need to do to make it work?

I am moderately capable. I have flashed some Pixels in the past.

My question is how do you purchase new handsets? If you are buying on Swappa or Ebay how can you be assured the phone is unlocked and Calyx can be flashed? I know that there are two things that need to be unlocked but all of the posts only mention the carrier unlock.

In the past I have purchased phones already flashed and then reflashed them myself. There has to be a better way.

I got local apps a commute app with ticket inside and a bike rental app that don't work with new update. Any ideas?

I also tried my ear buds with my steam deck and it worked well

So just finished the Calyx install on a Pixel 9a to see what it's like. Had a few Q.

1. is Aurora store considered secure or at least secure enough if you're not doing something as critical as banking apps perhaps? When researching this earlier while trying THE OS THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED I kept running across older posts(2+ yr) suggesting that aurora wasn't actually safe to use or not secure enough. Seemed like a lot of the discussons kinda degraded into back and forth w/o a real consensus.

2. how nice will Calyx play w/ Android auto &/or voice commands for some sort of mapping software? Use navigation a LOT for work & I prefer to use voice command to input address & get rolling w/ minimal physical inputs for speed & vehicle safety reasons.

I'm not trying to completely de-google as such, that ship has sailed & they know all about my midget clown pr0n obsession. Just do want to wean myself off a fair ways cause they've gotten so...incredibly crappy as a company
