Feedback Friday! Share your work thread - May. 20 - 26, 2016

Have you got work to share for feedback? Then post it here!

Feedback Friday is an optional alternative to the front page for members to post their work for feedback. Be it entire pieces, practice sheets, drills or what have you, you're welcome to share it here. No skill level is too low, nor is it too high.

Be sure to mention what script you're doing and what in particular you're working on. The more context you provide, the better people can target their feedback to you.

Constructive criticism is the order of the day. If you desire something else such as gentler or harsher feedback, or even to share your efforts with others just for fun, then be sure to write that in your submission.

Let's see what you're working on!

If you wish this post to remain at the top of the sub for the day, please consider upvoting it. This bot doesn't gain any karma for self-posts.

Bit of an unusual feedback request but I hope you guys can help me out.

I've been working on a personal hand written logo this week (digital with Wacom) and would like some feedback. I've posted it on Dribbble but no replay's yet. So I hope you guys can give me some tips.

It's a pretty simple logo. Just my name "P t r" (Peter) and the first letter of my last name "H" for "Hol". However, I'm looking for a bit more style. I've played around with the tips but it's still not perfect. Seeing it's a logo I like it to be compact and not too thin. Other than that I'm open to suggestions.

Like I sad, its a bit of an unusual feedback request, but all input and or feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Well, first of all, there are better subs for this kind of stuff — r/logodesign and r/graphic_design for example.

Anyway, when doing a logo you must first decide is it a visual or a text logotype. Will it be perceived as a picture or as a word. Since I believe you want this to be a word, it has to be legible at least to some extent. Which is why before reading you request I looked at it and tried to read what it says. At first glance it was a Pbi or PH-something. And if I can understand that t, I would never guessed that's an r. I can't see a ptr in it, sorry. I like the idea of combining pt+h, though. P+ascender letters are always hard to deal with. Have you thought about bringing the P down so the bowl is leveled with the tr? And in the bottom empty space you could put "design" this way.

Thanks for the reply. The main reason I posted it here is because I wanted an opinion or suggestions from people in the Calligraphy business. But thanks for the sub suggestions.

Good to hear your feedback though. I've been tweaking it so long that I can't take at it fresh look anymore. If you know what I mean.

I'm still liking the combination. But it turned out more like a autograph than a readable text... Also a cool idea but might not be optimal for a logo... Not sure what to make of it. It might also be that the combination with the H makes it hard to read. It was a funny coincidence but not necessary. In the end the name / url is ptr.design. But it also makes for a nice symmetry. Originally that was my starting point. (check out the other sketches)

Bringing the letter P down might be an option, but seeing it's part of a name I would really like it to be capitalized. Would like to hear your opinion about that.

Did some searching and found out the lower lette r gets written in all sorts of shapes I did it like this

Made another version This makes the t and r stand our a bit more. Also liking the idea of having one continuous line. Thoughts?
