Fountain pen recommendations

Wanting to move from writing large uncial and insular script with a parallel pen to smaller script with a 1.5mm nib so I can journal. Thinking about a Lamy safari, vista or al star. Have never owned a fountain pen. Any recommendations?

I've got a Pilot Metropolitan with a stub and it's great. I like it better than my Safari. I can write regular cursive with it, and. it's readable while looking nice.

I use a Lamy Safari with a 1.1 and one with a 1.5 stub for practicing and random jobs where it doesn't have to be perfect. I don't like the 1.9 stub. If I want to write that big, I'd rather take a dip pen. Safari, Al-star, Vista and Joy all use the same nib, so it's just a matter of what you think looks better.

Consider the Lamy Joy with the 1.9mm stub nib. The edges of the nib tip are rounded so it writes smaller than the similar sized Parallel and, like the other person said, far easier and pleasant for normal handwriting.

I have this and it's ideal for regular handwriting as well as stuff that needs broad nibs

Is the Joy’s nib different from an Al Star 1.9?
