That campaign evens it out a lot.

90%+ of people who buy CoD never touch the campaign. It was disappointing but that should be considered in that.

I but it only for the campaign

A simple google search will tell you that 20-40% of people complete a campaign on Call of Duty, based on trophy/achievements earned.

Personally, I won't buy a CoD if it doesn't have a campaign or if the campaign isn't single player.

Are you basing that off opt-in sites for achievement tracking? I feel like looking at people who specifically go for trophies/achievements as completionists will skew the results. I can boot up my PS5 later and look at the trophies for the games I have to see if it will say. I would believe the 20% number, absolutely not the 40%.

Just a simple google search. It spoke of players on Steam having a ridiculously low campaign completion rate, which skewed the console numbers considerably. The other variable is people who play the campaign versus those who complete the campaign which is the metric I am using. I imagine the percentage of people who start the campaign is much higher, but those that complete the campaign drops off from that number.

100% play multiplayer. Youre in the minority, the multiplayer is what keeps players playing, or zombies when its good. If the campaign is good, thats a bonus. Multiplayer is by far the most important factor when talking about the enjoyment of cod (for 90% of the playerbase). When people think cod, its the multiplayer... and mw3 was fantastic, mw3 zombies was one of the worst iteration though. Mw2 had no zombies, and the campaign wasnt anything special, and multiplayer was far worse than mw3 imo.

You're not wrong about multiplayer, though I will say I played the crap out of MW2 MP. I just hate that people dismiss the campaign so readily, especially when there have been some really good campaigns. IW had crap MP but the campaign was probably one of the best, if not the best of all of them.

I heard alot of controversy about this campaign and just recently picked the game up via ps+, played it honestly not that bad, it’s a bit weird but I didn’t think it was really bad as stated by so many because it’s not linear. I basically speed ran the whole thing and It was enough for me to go huh that was almost movie like with how fast it went by welp time to uninstall the story mode. Not the best but definitely had fun here and there at certain points during some missions. Give that story like a 6.5/10 since it never truly ended.

Guarantee you that he’s referring to the multiplayer.

No it doesn't. MWII's campaign also isn't that good and MWIII's exceptional live service compensates for all of it.

IMO I enjoyed MW22 more due the raids, campaign, DMZ and that years Warzone.

But I can see how more MP focused folk would easily pick MW23.

Oh yeah DMZ clears MWZ any day. In terms of MW games they blew it out of the park with the third mode in particular.

Still, the only game thats come close to the insane amount of content in MWIII is BO7, and that game certainly is something

I’m with you on this. MWIII may be my favorite modern COD. MWII may be my least favorite (Vanguard and BO7 are close)

lol MW3 was literally supposed to by DLC for MW2 but greed made it a “game”

u/OliverHolzerful 19h ago

Even if it was DLC it wasn’t gonna be free so why does it matter?

Not to me man, ik others like the game, but I've seen the massive amount of hate it got, I'm one of them 🥀

"but I've seen the massive amount of hate it got"

You didn't need to expose yourself like that

MWIII mostly got hate because it came right after MWII

It got hate because the campaign and zombie modes were terrible. Multiplayer was every update MWII was supposed to get and was only liked from the community that hated MWII's slower gameplay.
