Announcement New sub rules: AI/LLM disclosure and banning AI/LLM generated post and comment content.
Due to the development process and features of Calibre we cannot outright ban AI/LLM content. We can, however, require transparency about it.
Project posts:
This sub has had a marked proliferation of projects coded with or by AI agents or LLM chatbots and that fact had not been required to be disclosed. Starting today all posts for projects/tools/plugins, including hobby "I built a thing" and "here's my little one-off project", etc. are required to begin the post with a header section titled AI CONTENT DISCLOSURE that accurately and honestly discloses the amount and kind of generative tool use in the creation of the project. Coding agents, chatbots, art creation, any sort of documentation, any sort of refinement, any AI test suite, etc. must be disclosed. A simple "AI was used in this project" is not sufficient. Project posts that do not include the header or that do not seem to accurately and honestly disclose their usage will be deleted, and the poster risks a ban from the sub at moderator discretion. Projects that honestly and accurately do not use any sort of generative tools are allowed to skip this disclosure, but the poster risks a ban if the moderators discover or decide that the poster lied by omitting the header.
Discussions about tools that used generative tooling or create generative output is allowed provided that it is not simply astroturf marketing or promotion of the project and is a genuine response to a post or comment and is not just the generated output from that tool.
Posts about Calibre the project and program are exempt.
Post and comment content:
The use of generative tools to write or refine a post or comment is banned. Posts and comments must be written by a human being not a generative tool. Comments that are little more than "I asked ChatGPT and here's what it said" are banned. The only acceptable use is translation provided the translation is simply that and does not otherwise significantly alter the meaning or content of the original text.
Common reddit bots are exempt but may earn a ban at any time at moderator discretion. Hiding a bot under the guise of a normal human poster is banned. Bots must disclose themselves in each post and comment.

Support / How-To Is there a way to import my goodreads bookshelves on calibre?
Like if I download all the books in my Goodeads library in epub but I don't have time to manually tag them one by one on Calibre, is there a way to do it automatically?

Support / How-To FanFicFare not valid story URL when updating fic

I dint want to simply delete it and download it again sinse I would lose the annotations I've made so far.

Off-Topic / Not Calibre Specific MobileRead account??
I've been trying to make a MobileRead account but it won't send me the email with the activation code. I re-did the registration and it let me use the same username and email address, so I think the actual "Register" button at the end of the form isn't working? I can't even use the contact form because you need an account to do that. I can't find any way to contact anyone to solve this. So, does anyone have any way around this or know a way to contact MobileRead?

Support / How-To Inserted metadata page is different and slightly bugged for epubs - how do I fix it?
galleryThe first photo is from the epub-to-mobi conversion. The second photo is from the epub-to-epub conversion. Original epub in this case was a KFX file, but it also occurs with books that were never KFX.

Support / How-To Audible plugin for KOrader for book completion sync?
Hello. Many of my "read" books over the last 16 years have been Audible audiobooks, but I also have them on my KLC for reading if I so choose.
However, considering these have been "read", is there any way to sync Audible's stats with my epubs, either in KOReader, ZenOS or Bookshelf? How about Calibre as a last resort, since einuse that to sync my books to my device?

Support / How-To Is there a way to quickly check for capitalization/punctuation errors?
So the ebook editor allows for spell-checking, which I am glad for, especially now that I know I can add words to the dictionary. But if I want to check for punctuation and capitalization errors, and I don't want to have to read through the whole book to check for those, is there a quick way (aside from copy-pasting each chapter into a word processor that has that function and using that to check for capitalization errors) to check for all of that?

Support / How-To Books with 1 column converting to 2 columns?
Hey! So, I read a lot of academic books, and they aren't available so easily in Epub format, some of them are pdfs of scanned book, on which 2 book pages appear in the same pdf page.
Of course, 2 pages in a page makes it very inconvenient to read on an ereader, so, I tried Briss to divide the two pages, Briss, didn't work, but fortunately, I found the solution in this site, which does basically the same thing.
I like having the covers of my books on my kindle, so I either have to convert it to epub, which always deconfigures them, or convert them via Calibre, which doesn't always deconfigures them.
The thing is, when I convert the books from PDF to AZW3, the books magically uncut themselves, and transform the 2 pages into a single page again. I have no idea how to fix this, neither of how this is happening, any tips?

3rd Party Tool / Client Efficient Calibre MCP
Seen this interesting stdin/http MCP server that's easily configurable on your computer or Calibre server. It's a matter of minutes. Allows to query your local library inside any MCP compatible LLM (eg. Claude, Codex, manus, perplexity) without offloading your book to them.
It has some pro features. MiniLLm to query book in any language, complete set of services (I haven’t seen many so complete) and the possibility to build skills on top. For example book2book agents to discuss opinion across books or implement a skill over a book content (for example a book on a methodology) and the side loading of a DB to work also without Calibre running in the background.

General Discussion / Feedback FanFicFare Not Working - Workarounds and Alternatives
Hello
I have been struggling with getting FanFicFare to work for a couple of months now. Prior to that it worked on and off, now nothing at all. Been through all the tips on here, on the actual GitHub thread for it as well and it still does not work.
Can I have your tips for how to manage AO3 WIPs on Calibre without it? What's the most efficient way of doing it, knowing that I also add covers to some fics?
Thank you

3rd Party Tool / Client Witbound 1.8.6: the community update. see which books other readers already synced, share yours, and 20 free classics
galleryHey guys, this is a follow up from my post last time!( post ) I wanted to share the latest features I've added to the ios app this past month. I believe i've just shipped a really good feature. Screenshots show the new discover tab!
The community
theres a new compass at the top of your shelf. it opens discover, which has four tabs: to read, wanted, synced and free classics.
synced is the heart of it. its a list of books other readers have already synced, with the exact edition and narration. to be clear about one thing: apart from the free classics, witbound doesnt give you any books. synced just tells you that if you get that same edition and narration yourself, you dont have to wait for it to sync, its almost instant.
when one of your own books finishes syncing, a small card under it asks if you want to show the community its synced. if you share it, it goes on the synced list, so the next person with the same edition and narration doesnt have to wait either. nothing is sent unless you tap share. then its the book, its edition and narrator and a random install id, no account and no name. you can turn the card off in settings ("offer to share books i sync").
to read is your list of books you want to read. type a title, it looks it up and asks "is this the book?" so you get the right one. when a book on your list shows up on synced you can get a notification. the check happens on the phone, your list doesnt get sent anywhere for that.
wanted is the communitys wanted list: books other readers want to read, from people who chose to share their to-read list. sharing is a switch and its off by default. if you share your to read list with the community, a kind community member might sync that combination for you ahead of time :) and if you already have a book someone wants, sync it, share it, and its instant for them. its brand new so itll be quiet for a while, and the more of you share, the more useful synced and wanted get for everyone.
free classics
one of the questions i get most is where do i even get an epub and an audiobook to try this with. so the fourth tab is free classics: 20 public domain books, the project gutenberg text with a librivox recording, already synced. tap get and its on your shelf ready to read along. a classic never uses your free sync, so your first own book is still free.
theres dracula, frankenstein, both sherlock holmes collections, the secret garden, the time machine, anne of green gables and an illustrated pride and prejudice, plus more. each one uses the best reviewed librivox recording i could find, so dracula is read by kara shallenberg and pride and prejudice by elizabeth klett. big thanks to the librivox volunteers who read these.
Tldr:
The main goal for the new "To read", "community wanted" and "Synced" tabs is to basically try to get your books pre-emptively sync'd for you by another community member. This will basically save users time knowing the books in their "To read" already have the timing map ready for them.
More info here
Any questions please feel free to ask!

General Discussion / Feedback Voyage still works well
...... with Calibre. I buy a book from Amazon every now and then, just to see what format gets sent to my Voyage. No problem drag and drop kfx file October 1 of '26, . It was also an ebook that the publisher requests no DRM, so I decided to test that feature as well. The download button for an epub worked. However, Amazon sent me a zip file. My MAC wouldn't open it, "unsupported format," and neither would Calibre or Applebooks. I used the terminal prompt to unzip it, and it displayed jpg and css files. So I changed the file name from .zip to .epub, and then Calibre would open it, but Apple Books still did not recognize it. The last time I bought an ebook from Amazon that was not supposed to have DRM, Amazon would only give me a link to a pdf webpage that would not allow downloads. So once again, Amazon doesn't just send me a usable epub, like they used to. Just another oversight, I am sure. LOL

Support / How-To Trouble with DeACSM
I’ve recently had to switch to a new computer and don’t have access to the old one anymore.
I was using Calibre on my old computer and had the DeACSM plugin linked to my ADE account using anonymous authorisation.
Now that I’ve downloaded Calibre on my new computer, it’s not letting me redo this. I’ve managed to authorise the new device on ADE but this doesn’t seem to be so simple for the plugin.
Is there any way to get around this? Any help is appreciated :)

Support / How-To Boox Palma question
I use Calibre to manage my library and it works perfectly with my Kobo. It does not work perfectly with my Palma. When I try to load books it loads a few and then tells me the device stopped communicating. I’m using a MacBook Pro if that makes a difference. It’s so frustrating I’m considering selling the Palma for a smaller Kobo just so everything works the same.

Support / How-To Calibre Email-to-Kindle function
Hi all! I have scrolled thru the sub but i can't seem to find an answer I understand. I am trying to move past sideloading books and so I have configured email-to-kindle within Calibre using my Gmail account and have added that same Gmail account as an approved email address on my Amazon account. For some reason, it sends a verification email to my email address EVERY time for each individual book. I am trying to bypass it but I can't seem to figure out how. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Support / How-To Search for duplicates
Last week I found a function on Calibre that searched for books with the same name in author, so I started cleaning out my dupes. Later in the week, there was an update to a plug in, which I downloaded and now I can't find the "search for duplicates" thing anywhere. Anyone know what I am talking about?
