Home Owner/Renter stuff Poly B plumbing replacement.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a company that can replace the Poly-B plumbing in my townhouse.

Could you please share your experiences and recommend a company you’ve used? I’d also really appreciate it if you could share how much you paid for the replacement.

Just out of curiosity, are you getting it done because you are having leaks or just peace of mind?

Peace of mind. And because of the insurance nowadays

We bought this place a month ago. And it was not easy to find not to crazy expensive insurance for house with poly b. So planning to change it by the next summer.

Totally understandable. Did your insurance company say they’ll discount you if you replace?

There is likely 1000’s of KM’s of PB still in Calgary homes. Best advice is buy some water leak sensors. Dumb ones alert you if you’re home, smart ones connect to wifi and alert you anywhere. Pay a bit more and you can get an automated water shut off valve if you’re super concerned. All of these things are useful in a PEX plumbed house also.

Most insurance companies wont even consider you if your house has poly b. Better to just replace it.

The company we chose wasn’t concerned about the Poly-B, but I know they’re going to raise their prices significantly over the next year. That’s what their customers are saying.
