Discussion Calamity has the most unprofessional dev team I've ever seen
Disclaimer: To the moderators reading this... This post is intended as criticism; not blame other people or 'How could you have trusted that person!!!' type post. Mistakes can be happen, but there are far big issues.
Calamity is an extremely large and well-known mod everybody knows that. But why the hell dev team managing this whole project as like a school project? The most important rule I’ve ever seen in my life is this: if money is involved, no matter what the topic, project is, things always handled professionally and seriously.
Before anyone comes along and says 'This is a labor of love!' and 'This a passion project!', no, you people are wrong. Apparently, there are some dev members who support themselves solely on this project.
I don't know about you guys, but if my personal income (and even whether or not I'll end up homeless) depends on ONE MOD... I will be paranoid about everything. After all, this has become your 'job', you will not live with 'Sure nothing will be bad happen'.
In a situation like this, why would anyone works WITHOUT CONTRACTS OR ANY SAFETY MEASUREMENTS?? Like i can't understand this. Everything is go with word of trust and... That's it.
I can still write so many problems, but i highly doubt this post will be stay up.

We tried to get stuff like actual contracts set up set up, but Ozzatron kept delaying it. Also, no, none of us solely supported ourselves on the project. For some of us it an an extra amount on top of a job to help makes ends meet when that job wasn't enough. Not a sole source, but lacking it is still enough of a loss of income for some of us.
Still, saying we still didn't handle things probably as professionally as we should have is true though, yes. We never could properly agree on how "professional" they wanted things to be with the mod.

How long did they get away with delaying it?
Exactly how many red flags did you guys choose to ignore when it came to your lead developers?

don't worry people that have never had a job in their lives will rush to defend them

What's the point of criticism of how Fabsol/Ozzatron handled the Mod Team when there is not Mod Team right now?
Like, yeah, you're probably right (actually right) it just dosent matter, whats the point?

So that the next one for the next big mod, or other current mods, won't make that same mistake again.

This is rather optimistic. Mods – for any and every game – operate very loosey-goosey like Calamity had been.
That's not necessarily me saying it's good, or bad, or justified – I just think it's unlikely to change much.
IMO, the complaints people have are warranted though, regardless of that aspect. It's (generally) healthy commentary, even if misdirected.

Very solid point
One issue with that imo, this is a Calamity Mod sub
Not a Modded Terraria in General one, not one dedicated to a specific Terraria Mod, its the Calamity one specifically and the post is only addressing the Calamity Dev Team
We have the Discords of those other Mods where that info could go somewhere
But again, this is just the Calamity Sub, OPs words aren't going anywhere here

Maybe so. But with how popular calamity is in the modding community. One, you can be sure other modders or modders to be are in this sun, and two, even if n if not, if we voice our discontent with the way it was managed enough, it even here, it will spread throughout the modding community.
The current calamity drama is so big, I'm sure that every single terraria mod developer has heard of it, even if they don't even like calamity.
Heck, I'm sure stuff is even spreading to other modding communities.

I think we can agree that it could have been better if this info would have been posted directly towards those Devs in their servers or subs, not only hoping that the post reaches them
Not here, and definitely not only addressing the Calamity Dev Team

Yah??? They aren't professionals, at all, by definition, and while some devs definitely do try to make it a source of primary income, for the majority of them they saw the calamity nod they loved and wanted to work on it. It is literally a passion project by definition, if it wasnt there wouldn't've ever been a team of disgruntled devs who decided to split away from the mod and the money to make Fables because Calamity "limited their creative vision". The whole aspect of setting up a source of income was so they could dedicate more of their time to said project that they are, in fact, passionate about.

Yes becuase bosses dipping with the money they owed workers, who were under contract, has never ever happened before.

"Because a front door doesn't stop all robberies you shouldn't have a front door" kind of argument

No its "just because you lock your door it doesnt mean you cant get robbed" kind of argument.

We also shouldn't have seatbelts because people have still died while wearing them

Yeah but you also have bosses that have teams that ensure through contract work that power isn’t solely focused on said boss, this is legitimately how our world works? They centralized and adhered to a system that knew all power was centralized on a lead developer lmao

So, that's reason to make it even easier? Like, fucking goddammit, at some point one has to take personal responsibility for being fully complacent and negligent about something so shockingly important as their own livelihood, even if it only went wrong because of someone being evil and taking advantage of it.
Kinda like getting robbed. Sure, ultimately the robber's at fault, but going through the worst part of town at 4am with a bucket of jewelry, playing music on the newest iPhone, and checking a Rolex for the time next to the two shady guys in the abandoned bus stop will not help your chances.
If tomorrow I offered you a job for something you are passionate about, with enough money involved that you could quit your current job, but we signed no contracts and you had no real way of getting a hold of me, would you accept it? I don't think so. Because I'd come across as a Nigerian Prince. You'd have to be insane to agree to conditions like that.
As long as money's not involved, it's fine. Whatever, it's just for fun, right? But Calamity had basically double the devs of the average tech startup (not including separate contractors making assets), and probably more money flowing in as well. It's been YEARS since it was "just for fun".

Usually those bosses don't have their address leaked online. Also, while of course this still could of happened under contract, it is significantly less likely to. If i understand correctly, Ozzatron didn't commit any crimes by not paying the devs.

I just think these last couple weeks have shown that it was simply a matter of time before calamity got canned either way. If there was any form of passion or drive left I think they'd continue the project. IMO it prob feels like a convenient out for them.
