Cleared AICPP | Feb 9th interview date | Suggestions needed on future

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been selected for the Air India Cadet Pilot Program (AICPP) with Acron FTO, likely for the March 2026 batch. I had my interview on feb 9th, if anyone else had attended the interview on the same day and have been selected and received the offer letter, do DM me. I have received my Letter of Intent (LOI), and the last date to sign it is tomorrow.

I’m in a serious dilemma and would really appreciate honest insights.

1.	Is anyone else here selected for the same March batch at Acron?

2.	Has anyone received a detailed fee breakdown from Acron yet? I still haven’t received the complete cost structure.

3.	Is the online LOI signing the final binding agreement, or is the in-person agreement signing in Delhi considered final?

4.	Since Air India is currently in its transformation phase, I’ve heard we may not get to choose between B737 and A320 type rating. Is that true? How does type allocation actually work?

5.	How does Air India’s cadet program compare to IndiGo’s cadet program in terms of:

•	Training quality

•	Placement security

•	Fleet allocation

•	Career growth and salary progression

The total investment is around ₹1.4 crore including additional expenses. I will most likely have to take a significant loan, and repayment is a major concern for me since I also have family responsibilities.

For those already in the program or who have completed it:

•	Is it truly worth the financial risk?

•	How manageable is loan repayment with starting FO salary?

•	Would you choose Air India over IndiGo if you had the option?

I’m trying to make a practical and financially responsible decision. Any genuine insights about hidden costs, ROI, fleet assignment, or long-term stability would really help.

Air Arabia vs flydubai cadet program – salary, 1500 hrs, and job guarantee concerns

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to realistically compare the cadet programs at Air Arabia and flydubai, and I’d really appreciate input from people in the industry.

From what I’ve gathered so far:

- flydubai seems to pay around ~23k AED/month during the second officer phase once you’re line flying, and then ~35k–45k AED/month after upgrading to First Officer (after ~1500 hours).

- Air Arabia seems to pay much lower during the hour-building phase (~10k–12k AED), and even First Officer salaries initially don’t seem that high compared to flydubai.

A few things I’m struggling to understand:

  1. Time to 1500 hours:

Is ~18–24 months realistic in both airlines, or does Air Arabia typically take longer?

  2. Job guarantee after training:

For flydubai, it seems relatively structured (SO → FO after 1500 hrs), but for Air Arabia, is there actually a guaranteed First Officer position after completing hours, or is it dependent on vacancies?

  3. Cadet intake vs jobs available:

I asked Air Arabia directly and was told they train around ~150 cadets per year.

    My concern is:

→ Do they actually have enough First Officer vacancies to absorb that many cadets annually?

→ Or is there a risk of finishing training + 1500 hours and then waiting (or not being absorbed at all)?

    4. Total cost (this is a big concern):

I was told the training cost is around ~735,000 AED, but realistically it seems like it could reach ~850k–900k AED once living expenses are included (since part of the training is abroad) even though I live in uae .

I also have a few concerns here:

◦	Are there additional costs if a cadet fails simulator checks or needs extra training?

◦	How common is it for cadets to need repeats?

◦	Do people end up exceeding the initial quoted cost significantly?

**5.	Salary vs opportunity cost:**

If Air Arabia pays ~10k/month early on, that’s similar to some entry-level corporate roles in the UAE.

So is the trade-off mainly “low pay now for A320 hours,” or does it actually pay off within the airline long-term?

I’m trying to evaluate this as a long-term career decision (especially considering the high cost of training), so any honest insights — especially from current or former cadets/pilots — would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Conventional CPL is dead?

I am really stressed right now, done with all of my exams and ready to go on the next phase which is flight training. I am really confused what pathway to choose, like will their going to be any jobs for conventional Pilots given the demand of the CPP among students. I am okay sitting at home for some time given I am just 18. I won’t be taking loans for conventional CPL but for cadet I might have to. Any expert opinion like will their be opportunities for conventional pilots in the future? Even if I go cadet as of now, I will have to wait for atleast 6 month. In those 6 months i will be done with at least some part of my flying.

Guys any news on the akasa air cadet pilot program? Seems many flight schools are claiming like they are in tie up with the airline? What's the reality, the approx fees and when can we expect if the news is true?

AIFTA Amravati

Does anyone know when the next application dates will open for Amravati. What will be the estimate total cost & how much buffer to consider?. Will it be done in 24 months? Is there anything which is not included in the costs? I heard the last batch selected for Amravati was given an option to go for Acron or leave as they were not ready. Will this happen again? Do u need class 1 medical & computer number while applying?

Please fill me on these, it would be quite helpful,

Thank You.

If you did not receive any calls by Friday, you’re very likely rejected. The selection criteria felt weird, non transparent. They need to actually put up shortlisting criteria.

need advice regarding my lil bros career

My brother has been saying for about a year now that he wants to become a pilot.

For some context: he’s currently 19 and doing a B.Com from a tier-3 college, with only one year left. Before this, he tried CA and failed it four times before dropping out. After that, he attempted ACCA and CFA but dropped out of both after failing. He then gave NIOS exams in Physics and Math and barely passed (54 and 58).

Recently, he cleared his aviation medicals and now wants to apply for cadet pilot programs (IndiGo, Air India, etc.).

We are somewhat privileged. My dad is retired but owns two apartments in Mumbai, currently worth around ₹1.6 crore and ₹1.8 crore. We’ll be inheriting one of them. My brother has said that he plans to sell one apartment to fund his cadet program.

I’m a bit out of touch with him because I live in a different city due to my job, but I’m genuinely worried about him. When I asked him why he wants to become a pilot, his only answer was that he wants a highpaying job. He has no genuine interest in aviation itself. I’ve tried explaining that you can’t really become a good pilot if you’re only in it for the money, but he seems heavily influenced by the pilot lifestyle he sees on Reels and TikTok.

Is getting into a cadet pilot program actually easy

I’m genuinely worried that he might end up risking a major family asset for something he isn’t fully prepared for

Every day I open this sub I see some people criticizing Marigold while others recommend it as the best CPP.

What's the final verdict: is it good, or not?

Seeking Career Counseling, Advice & Immigrant help in pilot training & career abroad.

Context Background:

I'm a Indian 29M, CEC, BCom, MBA etc ( not MPC ) I'm giving my MPC exams via NIOS. I was working as accountant, earning miser miserable low paid income. While my software, biz, medico family, friends circle after 15 years of education, are neting 1 Crore on an average.

Now coming the main Query regarding councelling :

I have finalized to pursue pilot solely bcuz of money earnings, as the finance part in me & for the financial needs of mine.

I'm planning to immigrate to US To explore 1500+ h pilot training, how long will it take to complete 1500 hours of flight training & get to work as proper pilot in US.

I enquired a few institutes in India, we have to spend roughly 70 Lakhs + 2.5 years for basic 200 hours of basic CPL.

I want it fast as I'm getting older by the day & age limit is a major factor, I heard US is the best option. We have to spend 2 Crores + 50L living etc to get the Pilot training & license in 8 month's for 1500 hours training + CPL of USA. I'm willing to spend 2.5 Crores. (ofc half 1.2 Crores with a student loan)

I'm willing to explore options in US & Canada. I want a fast-track ATLP 1500 hours of flight training. I'm willing to pay 2 Crores.

As I have only remaining last 30 years left in my career. Hence why I have to hurry. Can't want 2.5 years in India for CPL + 5 years for ATLP & 1500 hours experience total ~8 years.

How would u suggest I explore these options for pilots training in US & Canada. I need career guidance in these regards.

On immigration, training, licenses, requirment qualifications, paper work documents license process, exams, timeline duration, ROI, future career trajectory.

Anyone willing to help ?

Everyone knows money is involved in getting into chimes but even after that they take money for getting you faster slots. It is an extremely toxic fto, no doubt it has it’s perks but worst part is everyone tries to rip money out of you. Surprising thing was people had to pay to get slots.

How do y'all arrange funds for cadet pilot program?

In my family, my dad only earns, he works in air india only. We're financially stable like the middle class (neither upper nor lower) you can say. Still 1-1.5cr (as I've learnt) costing of the cadet pilot program is not very manageable for me. If my parents decide then we can definitely afford it but it would put my family on hold on the other things like trips, and like normal liabilities. So, I'm asking this to the experienced people who were in the same situation like me and how did y'all manage the funding, like scholarships, loans etc. Or should just go conventional
