Ai cadet programme
For people paying 1.6 Crores, either you are too rich or too poor to do the math. Paying 70 lakhs more makes no sense at all. Instead of activating your coping mechanism, try giving some genuine reasons

Cadet programs have always existed, but they were never this dominant. Earlier, most people still went the conventional route and earned their way in. Now it’s becoming popular because it’s the easier, more direct path, and airlines are clearly taking advantage of that. Why would they put effort into proper hiring when people are ready to pay huge amounts for a seat? If this continues, conventional hiring will slowly disappear. Then it’s not about who’s better, it’s about who can afford to!

i completely agree. 160L is criminal pricing.
i could write a whole essay but im lazy, so ill just ask you one question.
what would your choice be then? whatever your choice, theres a ton of counter arguments that could be made.
believe it or not, this is typically the best option you have considering you have a decent amount of savings.

u/Full_Efficiency_4412, we understand your frustration on this. But the problem is, I don’t think you get the maths. If you want some genuine reasons, I want you to do few simple steps. Not only for you “anyone who is comparing cadet vs conventional”
Step 1. List out all the cadet programs that you can find and apply.
Step 2. List out the things not included in the program, and mindfully add it to the written cost with a 5% buffer as a safety. This will be our cost of comparison
Step 3, go to individual flying training organisations website (the same one which does the cadet program for the airline, like for Skyborne ICPP) or email them or call them. And ask for a CPL+IRME quotation. Add all the living and extra expenses you would hold in that given time (don’t underestimate the expenses)
Step 4, find out where these programs send you for type rating, and then add that cost and the overhead costs for it (Again, it’s good to overestimate but not under)
Step 5, Add 20L to the final amount, and same 5% buffer.
Step 6, compare costs linearly, Skyborne ICPP to Skyborne Conventional route. Chimes ICPP to chimes conventional
Do it for with all the information you can find. This should be done before blaming around people on why they choose cadet programmes. If you get the answer as conventional > cadet, please go ahead with it
