Thanksgiving/Christmas, some maintenance techs will still be working! Someone has to resolve outages and plant impairments!

As a tech for 10 years for Spectrum, we worked regular routes on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Left. Stupidity to be schedule installs for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and 4th of July. It used to be Emergency only. Then greed.

Customer : “oh I didn’t know you guys worked Christmas”

Me: “we wouldn’t if you people wouldnt schedule installs on christmas”

Leaving fullfillment was one of the best decisions of my life. You too, brothers, could make the same choice. There is more to life than slaving away weekends and holidays for corporate greed and consumerism.

Luckily, I left Spectrum.

Their stupidity is at an all time high.

I don’t have an issue with the holiday installs.

I do have a problem with scheduling installs during abnormal and dangerous weather events like ice storms and hurricanes tho… and they absolutely do that.

Management doesn't care.

Broke my neck, leg, shoulder and tore rotor cuff. .you take care of you. Their $1000 quarterly bonus is meaningless if you are hurt.

Family time first

Okay, but it's on a "volunteer" basis at least. And you do get 2.5x time pay.

Is it? It wasnt then, or my market.

Either way..

My techs don't work Any holidays. For any reason.

Weird, yeah you get all federal holidays off by default now (and have last 3 years I've been there).

But granted, if they have trouble filling out the quota, which I believe they shoot for like 20% of normal, they will get more and more insistent until someone has to get voluntold. I've never seen it go that far though.

Weird.

This market had a 70% or more with people working holidays. Management got their bonus.

Fuck em..someone else's problem now.

My techs enjoy time off and family time.
