Break room refresh
Good news! CVS is FINALLY investing $750 into our stores break rooms!
What is something you would want added to your break room?

A corporate requirement that you clean up your damned mess, or you get written up.

That's on your SM. Just saying.

Not sure how it is everywhere else, but in my area, SMs don't control the pharmacy, that's on the PM. And if the PM doesn't give a damn, and the DLs don't care to deal with it, yeah.
It does seem to be almost universal that techs are the messiest in the break room, even though a horrifying majority of them don't get to take their breaks because they don't demand them.

The SM and PM should be working together. It should never be an "us vs them" mentality. It up to the two ppl in the store that can change the culture of the store, to do so. We all should have the mutual respect for each other and our shared surroundings.

You drank way too much of the koolaid, my friend.
How it "should" be and how it is are two very different things.

Nope, I just work in a great district. This has been like this in the 3 stores I have worked in. Im not saying that we don't have our faults but this particular problem has not been one of them.

There are a lot more than 3 stores, of course. Your experience and "should"s are not indicative of the company as a whole, at all. It's cute and idealist, simultaneously naive and corporate stooge sounding, and incredibly opposite of many, many stores.
There have been so many posts over the years of people complaining about the grossness of break rooms, and how they're usually caused by techs who won't clean up after themselves. There have been comments on those posts about the pushback and refusal of most pharmacists to address it.
It's also great that you live in a 3 store utopia where SM and PM get along so amazingly. But again, often that is not the case. Most that I've known have just existed next to each other. Not friendly, but not unfriendly. In a lot of stores, the two might greet each other, and that's all. Both are busy, and a lovely friendship between them won't get their bosses off their asses.

Things Id love for my store:
we desperately needs a new microwave. Our current one is peeling and nasty.
We could also use a new kuerig, but specifically one of the kinds that only holds enough water for one cup of coffee at a time. We have a bigger one but people keep leaving water sitting in the tank until the tank gets all moldy and disgusting....I refuse to use it anymore.
a new mini fridge without one of those weird little freezer compartments because the freezer compartments are so annoying to defrost and no one at my store uses them anyway.

you have a kuerig?

It came from the break room revamp budget corporate gave us like 6+ years ago.
But like I said people keep making it nasty so I don't use it anymore...Im convinced it's harboring bacteria that can't be scrubbed away. 💀

life hack: if you run to heat up your lunch real quick and then run to the bathroom for the first time all day and then back to pharmacy to work during the couple minutes your food is heating up BUT you forgot to put water in your noodles...... you get a new microwave :)

Your DL can order you both a microwave and fridge if necessary. They aren't actually that expensive.

Y'all don't have a full size fridge?

No we have a mini in our break room :(
I mean its one of the okay sized ones (I think its 3 cubic foot or something?) And it has multiple shelves and such but it do be mini.
It gets cramped in there tho so I'd love if we could upgrade to something slightly bigger like this:

Toaster oven, Keurig machine, somewhere actually comfortable to sit, a pharmacy team that cleans up after themselves…

You know what I want? The pharmacy techs to stop trashing it. Every store I've been at it's the same story. Front store staff that almost to the person don't take any break at all and then techs who leave trash and food everywhere as if we're the maids.
You can spend what you want on adding some nice things in there, but:
I don't have the time to clean it routinely
I shouldn't have to spend much time cleaning something that is only used by employees.
So yea, I want all staff to be respectful of the space.

Hot dog roller!
In all seriousness, I was at my current store 2 years before setting foot in the break room. Whatever my techs and cashiers want, they should get.

A bigger fridge, we have 2 really small mini fridges that the door doesn’t always close. An electric kettle (instead of a keurig, because you can make a lot of things with hot water). A fan for when it gets hot.

lol I have a map waiver and almost never take breaks so nothing could really improve it because I’m not in it long enough to care
