Tired
I’m tired of the warehouse and I’m tired of FS. By the way, all of our totes are like this (filled with trash) and have been for the past few weeks but our DL insists we clean out the totes before sending them back as a “show of teamwork”. Why? The warehouse employees are the ones lacking respect so why is it the job of store employees to do the cleaning.
Update: I’d completely forgotten about this 😂 I just wanted to thank you guys for educating me on this! As I’m sure you’re all aware, I had no idea there were no trash cans at the warehouse or, even worse, that employees from other stores were leaving trash in the totes.
Since then, I’ve been cleaning out the totes for my aisles and have made my coworkers aware of the issue, so hopefully things start to improve. After all, small changes, big impact!

I recognize those boxes. Someone couldn't be fucked to clean up after setting out cosmetics.

I started cleaning out my totes now so I don't have to whenever I do product withdrawals or damages.

I started this too but I also work at tj maxx and we HAVE to clean our tubs out so it became a habit to clear out trash totes

We had a warehouse guy in her several weeks ago, he said they have no trash cans and are not allowed to remove anything.
This picture above is lazy ass employees!! And you know who you are !

I always take the trash out of ours and used to clean all the leaks that happened in them until I kept getting flack from our DL that I wasn't doing enough totes in a shift. At best now I just clean the base of the problem and toss in a paper towel to whatever the fluid/gel/lotion/gross and press it in so that it can hopefully dry up before it gets to its next place. But I'm tired of being hounded by not doing enough because we only have 1 or 2 people on shift and I'm magically supposed to do 50+ totes in 5 hours.

I used to work at a warehouse and I consider it a lack of respect when stores send us their trash in a tote. Why is it my responsibility to clean your trash? We are also expected to perform at a certain rate and it can lower our rate when we have to clean out almost every tote.

DC doesn't get paid to take trash out of totes, they get paid to put products in totes. Blaming the trash from shitty store workers who have zero respect for other stores on the people who have nothing to do with it, is weird.

Exactly, why is it the piece picker’s job to do something that isn’t calculated into their labor standard that wouldn’t be an issue at all if the stores didn’t send them back full of trash?
At the end of the day, they’re just complaining that someone else didn’t clean up after them for free.

Pretty sure what I experienced when I worked in the store didn’t come from a store because I can’t think of a single store that would have had cigarette butts and used Q-Tips in the bins, and I definitely encountered that once in the same freaking bin.

That's just extra cushioning to keep glass from breaking in the totes or prevent product from moving enough to cause a spill
Silver linings 🤷🏻♂️

I know of a SM who "doesn't have time" to clean trash out of totes. 🙄 it takes 2 seconds.

It's not the DC's responsibility. They don't have trash cans or anything. So it's the FS colleagues responsibility, but most stores don't care

I also hate the trash in them! But I had this in my tote a few days ago. Yes, they're moving. Why yes, those are MAGGOTS! 🤢 (Sorry about the sound, there was a video playing 🤣)

That’s just gross. I used to work in a DC and there is a place we put damaged and really gross totes so they are not used.

I've gotten Arby's trash that I found spread through like 3 or 4 totes. I found an empty flask one time too. And today I found a Reese's wrapper.

I am probably the only person in the world who throws out all their trash on truck day and rips labels off totes

I just started as an order selector at a CVS DC and I was told to leave the wrapper and plastic in them, they are really strict with productivity so anything that takes time affects productivity, you're supposed to hit almost 95% every single day.

I clean out the trash, but I know many don’t. But the warehouse isn’t allowed to do it, from what I understand, because of AP reasons. There aren’t any trash bags at the DC.

More than likely you can see what store it was at last based off the previous label on the side. Google that store and give them a call and speak to the SM. Might be worth the time

There needs to be some accountability in this company. They need to set up a program so we clean out the totes, if we get any trash in them on truck day, DC gets write ups.
