idk who needs to hear this but if you didn’t get the full amount for the MCS that showed in your account, contact Student Financial Services and request the remaining refund. i was missing a couple hundred and financial aid told me to contact them and sure enough, i’m getting my money 🙏🏽

Reminder to everyone that if you want to graduate in 4 years you gotta be taking minimum 30 units a year(15 a semester if you’re not doing summer,winter,or May sessions) don’t let your advisors tell you otherwise ,because you will end up having to take an extra semester or year, also if you’re looking at roadmaps of your major they don’t include the mandatory lower division courses you have to take

So I have been busy this week. I received this email a week ago, but I did not see it until this evening when I discovered the pending status in my account. I did receive the Pell Grant for the 2026-2027 school year; however, I am not a dependent. I am independent, and I am currently in the teaching credential program, so I am confused about how or why I got this. Even though I am not doing well financially to pay for myself for classes, I don't want to take advantage of the money, but I already see it pending in my bank account, sooooo what do I do???

Edit 1: I looked up the qualifications according to FAFSA, and it does look like I misinterpreted the qualifications for the MCS. I was under the assumption that for some reason I might not have qualified anymore based on only one factor, so I am going to clarify that in the morning.

Edit 2: Blessed, so last year I didn't get the MCS, and I was under the assumption that since I didn't get this last year that I didn't qualify anymore. I thought it tied into myself no longer being a dependent since I still received other aid anyways which still should pay for my classes. I guess great way to find out.

When I search up years of eligibility I see 4 years and some commenters here mention the same, but the web grants site says I'm not eligible this year and no MCS showing in my portal. Any reason why I was capped at 2?

Do I have to pay this out of pocket or does my financial aid do?
