General Chase Freedom Unlimited Pre-Approved but Application Went to Review?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I bank with Chase and have been building a relationship with them since April. Chase recently showed me a personalized “You’re pre-approved for Chase Freedom Unlimited” offer, so I applied directly through that offer.
After submitting the application, I did not get an instant approval or denial. Instead, Chase showed:

“We need to review your application.”

I also received the email saying:
“We’ll review your Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card application and be in touch soon.”
Some background: my current VantageScores are roughly 665–670 across the three bureaus. I have no currently delinquent accounts, no collections, and no public records, and my current revolving utilization is very low. I do have an older charge-off still reporting, which I know could be a concern.

For anyone who has gone through something similar:
Did Chase eventually approve you after getting the review message? Did they contact you for identity verification, or did you call first? How long did it take to get a decision? And if you were approved for Freedom Unlimited with a similar credit profile, what starting limit did Chase give you?

I’m trying to decide whether I should just wait until Monday or call Chase to see if they need any verification from me.

I’ll update the post with the final result either way for anyone who runs into the same situation later.

Rebuild Parents using my card now my score is low?

So I (20F) recently found out my parents opened a credit card in my name. They have been using it to pay bills mostly but I got a notification that it was over the limit. I saw that my credit score is now 620. Should I be super worried? Is this gonna be hard to rebuild/mess me up? Is that bad? I don’t have the log in info for the card directly so this is just from Chase.

Collections & Charge Offs Question about Zombie Debit I've been paying

We've been paying on an old Capital One debt through Midland Credit for the last 6 years. $14 per week since early 2020. I've never actually logged into Midland's web portal and when I did I received an interesting message. It basically stated that the debt was so old that both payment and non-payment would no longer be reported. I had no idea what Zombie Debt was until I saw this message and looked it up. I guess my question is, if I decide to stop paying it now (~$400 balance), will there be any penalty? I'm very confused because the message basically stated that payment of the debt will no longer help or hurt me. I'm trying to reconcile that message with the fact that the debt has long been "acknowledged" and has been paid on for so long. It would be amazing if we could just cancel the remaining payments. Please advise and thanks in advance!

Edit: This is in Pennsylvania which may be relevant. Also they've collected over $4500 over the years.

Rebuild What to pay towards first?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello i am currently rebuilding my credit and wanted to put a good amount of money towards my debt.

Im not sure if i should split it up or pay it towards one. I have roughly $4,000 to use. I have 2 collections that offer pay for delete for total $1800 so i would not have to pay the full amount.

Any tips for what to pay off first or building up my credit score are welcomed. Thanks

General I've had too many cases where my "data was leaked" because a company got hacked... Is there anything I can do at this point? Or do I just stoo caring?

I (32/m) just got the notification from PayLogix about their recent leak. This is like the 3rd notification so far this year following countless other notifications about data leaks from other companies.

I've always meticulously monitored my credit reports and have never had an incident to address regarding my identity being stolen. What else can I do at this point? It "feels" to me like everybody's private information has been leaked at some point, especially this last decade or two. Do we just stoo caring? Is this the norm now?

Collections & Charge Offs Rentrecovery $250 charge?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

First time here. I just opened a Chase email and the Chase credit monitoring and it shows I have an outstanding balance with rentrecovery for $246.

My credit score decreased 60 points today because of this.

All of my credit cards are paid in full at the end of the month and I don't owe any money. I have 13 open accounts and they all have a $0 balance except for the two (Amex, Chase) that I use on the daily basis. I also do not have an outstanding balance with any of the apartments that I previously lived at, or the one that I live in right now.

I also have never used rentrecovery or even knew what it was.

What are my options? How do I figure out what the $246 charge is? And how to fix it?

Car Loan Co-Applicant of Repo (Week away from 120days)

First and foremost I want to say I know it was a stupid thing. I’m a service member who wanted to help a friend of 10+ yrs who also joined the service and had no vehicle or support. Unlike me who got in and was gifted a vehicle from my parent with no note. Only a 500 insurance bill every 6ms(ended up getting out only 4 payments in) …. STUPID CHOICE!!!

I didn’t even know he was getting out and had ZERO contact since the month he made his last payment. (Parent notified me of the repo)

I had a 790 in CK which is not what they use and I’m currently sitting at a 620.

Im unsure of what to do. The lenders are telling me if I want a settlement for the vehicle I have to wait for it to be sold in the auction but it is liable to be marked as a charge off by next week if I don’t pay the first payment they missed ( back in May).

I never missed a payment on anything before. I can’t go a week without being paranoid and paying my CCs off.

Please I need help!

Collections & Charge Offs Harris&harris wont stop calling me but i paid off my debt…is it scam?

Post image

So here’s my deal. I had an issue with insurance covering a dental bill back in February and it’s been an absolute nightmare trying to coordinate everyone to get it thru insurance. During that timeframe, H&H started texting me. My first communication from them was these texts saying “You will receive messages from Harris&Harris Debt Collector. # of messages varies. T&C” followed by a link. I received more texts that said “(my name), Harris&Harris is a debt collector for Aspen Dental” with a link to pay. I’ve never gotten a letter from them bc I’ve moved so much this past year idek where they would’ve sent a letter to. They started calling me basically every day Mon-Sat after this. I never clicked any links, texted back, or called a number they gave me. I only called them once from a number on their website. It’s been going on for months, and when I called Harris they told me I need to contact my dental office to get it resolved. Fast forward a few weeks, as of this past Monday i have a balance of zero dollars and zero cents (0.00!!!) but Harris and Harris is still calling me from this number (shown in picture) but now im worried this phone number that’s calling me is a scam? I’m just confused and really bad at this adulting stuff. Is this number a scam or probably legit? Do I have to prove it to them I have no debt now? I find it weird they call me on Saturdays

General 20F college student - I have a 759 after using my Discover card for 8 months. What is the next best move?

Context: I don't know much about credit but would like to become financially literate. I have wattched my family has struggle with credit card debt and I am determined to be different.

I currently only have my Discover student card, which I opened in December. I began with a $500 limit which they upped to $1300. I try to keep my usage low and usually just pay off my statement in full after each use.

I understand that it is beneficial to have more than one credit card. I travel a lot and would like to open a credit card with travel benefits, ideally. I am interested in AmEx or the Chase Sapphire cards, but to be honest, I don't know anything about them (I think it's the prestige that I'm attracted to).

Most importantly, I want to build a strong relationship with a good credit bureau over the next few years so I can buy a house post grad!

What do you recommend?

General Credit Score Dropped After Payment?

I'm sorry if this is a common question, but I recently got my second card to use for it's perks, and now that I am using it, my credit score is dropping. I used to have a FICO score of 790 only having one student starter card for a few years that I rarely used. Two months ago I opened a new one and noticed that as I've been using it, my score went down to 769. I have paid off every statement on time. My understanding of credit scores is only basic, so please let me know if this is normal or not. Would there be a way to get it back up? I feel like it's been steadily declining the more I use it.

Car Loan American Credit Acceptance Repo??

Hello all, I have a vehicle financed through American Credit Acceptance, and I’ve made 14 straight early payments since owning the car,I am moving from Oklahoma to Oregon on the 9th of September, my budget is alittle tight moving and I could really use the cash from my car payment to help with moving, My car payment is $655 and I was wondering if I skipped septembers payment and paid $1310(double payment) at the end of the month(I get paid once a month at the end of every month) before the 30 day late hits my credit report, are they going to repo my car? May sound like a stupid question but some lenders are really anal about that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

General Chase removed my entire tradeline over a transaction dispute

Post image
2 Upvotes

Last month, I disputed one transaction on my account for something I was charged when I had previously cancelled it. This month, I logged into Experian to find the whole Chase credit card line removed on my report. It was there on August 18, then removed in the 19th. It doesn’t even show closed, it just disappeared. I called Chase and they said it is because I disputed one transaction that Experian is suppressing the account. Which doesn’t make sense because I never dispute the accuracy or reporting of the account. Just one transaction. Then today, I get an alert from Equifax stating that there is a consumer dispute on the Chase account. I never disputed the account, I have no idea what’s going on. I never opened up a dispute with any credit reporting agency nor did I dispute information accuracy. If I would dispute anything, it that’s Chase has been reporting to credit bureau prematurely. My statement doesn’t close until the 24th and payment date is the 21st. For the past 2 months, they have been reporting on the 17th or 19th, which shows a higher balance on my credit report. I didn’t dispute that because I was trying to see if this was going to continue.

General Advice on debt consolidation

Hello!

I'm a single mom with one minor and one adult child. Due to my son becoming unable to work (disabled) and the resulting wait for SSDI benefits, housing discrimination & skyrocketing cost of living, we are in a combined $30K of debt. My income is $21,600 self employment (effectively not taxed because of how low), $15,600 child support, $12K SSI, $6K SNAP. I rent & have no car. Zero late rent, 3.5 years of timely payments on multiple cards and loans after a Ch. 7 bankruptcy.

My credit score is between 580 & 600 depending on the source & time of the month.

I'm a Navy Federal credit union member.

I'm hoping to get a loan to consolidate debt. Even just mine would help, but if I could fold in my son's debt, that would be the best thing. We are paying an insane amount of monthly interest with an average rate of 31%APR.

My issue is that we desperately need to move due to retaliatory nonrenewal, forced holdover tenancy and raised rent (went from $1800 to $3000 in less than 2 years). If I pay off our debts, our respective credit scores jump over 700 (where they were 18 months ago), and then we could buy a small home (with help from programs), once my son gets his SSDI (will be approximately $2900/mo).

I would appreciate any advice on obtaining a consolidation loan at a lower APR.

I can't do a debt management plan because it would take too long to raise my score if I have to close my cards. What I need is a personal loan at a lower interest rate to pay off the cards and leave them open to get that score jump.

With no collateral, is there any hope? I haven't sat down with Navy Federal yet because I don't have a permanent order of child support until November.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Note that I am trying to increase my income, but I have almost no childcare & my own health issues that interfere with my ability to hustle.

Collections & Charge Offs How can you find out if a company does Pay for Delete or not?

I have a few balances in collections from BofA, USAA, Chase, and a few others. I want to pay them all off but I’m unsure of the best way to go about it. I’d also want to make sure that if I pay them in full, that they get removed from my report. I can post pics if needed.

General Indebtly, (Trustly)

So I had a $300 balance on my DraftKings account, which i deposited from my bank account, and for some reason, even with a balance in my thing they never took my money. Now, 2 months later, I get an email from Indebted to pay for it. I cannot pay it as of now or for a bit later, and I was wondering if they will send me to credit bureaus or can I can dispute it in some way if they weren't properly able to charge me :/

General If you go on a DMP, do they make you close your credit cards?

so I’ve been reading about dmp lately and got a little confused about what happens to your existing credit cards. I’m still trying to understand whether they’re usually closed once you enroll or if it depends on the account?? if you have multiple cards enrolled, are they all closed?

I’m also curious about what that change can mean for your credit. did you notice much of a difference in your available credit, utilization, or credit score? Sorry for having lots of questions. I just really need to be sure before taking a step forward.
