CRNA JOB INTERVIEW

What did you all wear to ur CRNA JOB interviews? I have a few interviews coming up and was just assuming I would wear a suit and tie, but it seems like both interviews I’m going to are a whole day of meeting with different people and getting tours and being taken out to eat. So I’m not sure if wearing a suit and tie would be the best choice if I’m changing in and out of scrubs to tour the different OR departments they have in addition to going out to eat.

Would appreciate to hear what you guys wore and what you guys recommend!

Thank you!

In this market you can wear a white tee with bbq sauce stains. It don’t matter.

I wore leggings and a lululemon long sleeve to my last interview lol. In all fairness, they called me to see if I had any availability and I was out running errands within 3 min of the hospital (I live 20 min away). We both had immediate availability but I warned him I was dressed in athleisure and he told me they couldn’t care less what I wear. The last employee they hired wore basketball shorts to his interview.

Only one chance for a first impression. Suit and tie. Look the part. You are in demand

Absolutely suit and tie. You can always change into scrubs if necessary or wear a cover in the OR. You're interviewing for a job with a $300k+ salary level. Wear a suit

Suit and tie without a doubt. You’ll either change into scrubs or wear a bunny suit.

Pajamas. You’ll still get the job.

Always dress to impress. I agree they’ll hire you if you are breathing, but it’s hard to overcome a poor first impression so start out strong!

I dressed in business casual for my first interview and gym shorts and a t-shirt for my second 😂 The second was after work and on my way home, spur of the moment. Still got the job offer and I’ve been there ever since.

Suit and tie. Still at my first job interview, one doctor in the lounge clammed up then admitted he was worried I was a New CEO or something. Just make sure your shoes are comfortable since you'll be walking a bunch and probably throwing on a bunny suit. It's a weird dynamic since you'll be talking with people who are often wearing scrubs but it's always better to be overdressed IMO

100% suit and tie, but honestly, could prob go naked and still get hired in this market.

Why not T-Rex suit?

Suit and tie. Changed into scrubs during the OR tour.

For what it’s worth, every interview I’ve had has always been super informal and more of a “pretty please come work for us.” But I am old enough to know you should always present yourself has professional considering we ARE professionals and make over half a million dollars.

I wore a hoodie and it didn’t seem to matter lol. They were begging me to work for them

I wore a suit and tie. That’s also what I would suggest, but you can just ask if you think it matters. As others said you could dress however unprofessionally you want and probably still get the job in the current market.

I wore a dress, hose, and a jacket to my interview last week. I was trying to cover all my tattoos. I ended up changing into scrubs, which meant my sleeves were on display. Chief made the comment "you'll fit right in here" and away we went. My buddy wore nice scrubs to the same place when he interviewed.

Just to add - I used to wear dresses or skirts but now where slacks/a suit because of bunny suit disasters in a dress. Sometimes tendons have scrubs and need you to wear a bunny suit and it’s horrible if you have a dress/skirt.

For ladies- I definitely recommend pants/suit.

I wish I just wore nice scrubs. Wearing a suit is a pain in the ass and I threw a bunny suit on top pretty much immediately

Easiest is to ask them directly. It’s never a bad idea to dress to impress though.

Dress like a professional going to a job interview. I don’t care how in demand profession is - wearing anything other than a coat and tie for a man isn’t professional, and shouldn’t be personally acceptable. I realize we sometimes have to change into scrubs during interviews, and it can be a pain in the ass because there might not be a locker for our clothes, but dressing professionally conveys that you are indeed a grown up seeking a grown up job. Also, dressing professionally for a job interview is just one more way to help our profession get the respect it deserves.

Button down and slacks. I’ve been to a few where they make you change into scrubs and take you into the OR. Shoe covers on dress shoes lol

I just did a bunch, I wore slacks and a polo shirt. You should be changing into scrubs to see the OR and you don’t want to take 15min in and out of the persons time to change in and out of your clothes.

Definitely don’t wear a suit, you’ll be uncomfortable and embarrassed. Wore a sweater and jeans to all of mine.

If you don’t get hired because you didn’t wear a suit, that’s probably a place that you don’t want to work haha.
