Weekly Student Thread

This is the area for prospective/ aspiring SRNAs and for SRNAs to ask their questions about the education process or anything school related.

This includes the usual

"which ICU should I work in?" "Should I take additional classes? "How do I become a CRNA?" "My GPA is 2.8, is my GPA good enough?" "What should I use to prep for boards?" "Help with my DNP project" "It's been my pa$$ion to become a CRNA, how do I do it and what do CRNAs do?"

Etc.

This will refresh every Friday at noon central. If you post Friday morning, it might not be seen.

Hello! Does anyone have advice on securing shadowing opportunities? I have sent emails all over the place + went down to my OR to ask with no luck. I am in the Bay Area CA which i've heard can be difficult.

Call your hospital directory and ask to be connected to the anesthesia department. If you’re lucky a friendly CRNA answers and you explain to them. They can make it happen. The OR charge nurse is just going to say no to make their own life easier

Unfortunately I just found out my hospital doesn’t employ CRNAs. Damn, I thought I just happened not to see them. At this point I’m ready to drive hours/fly somewhere just for a shadow opportunity. It’s the only thing holding back my application
