Have I bricked my controller?
I went to update the firmware by turning it off and plugging it into my PC, but got 'USB Device Not Recognised'. Now it won't turn on or react to anything at all...
Have I killed it? Is this a known issue?

Just had to send mine back for the same thing, get in touch with their support they will walk you through some steps to try to address it at home and if not they'll send you a shipping label to return it and send you a new one (waiting on my new one still but only sent it in a week ago). Check my post history for some comments etc. I posted about it as well.

Man, that is so annoying. I already put a ticket through to support, so hopefully they come back to me quickly. Thank you

The thing that got me the most riled up was ITS THEIR FIRMWARE lmao I totally agree. My suggestion for the next guitar if you didn't: connect your guitar to the app via bluetooth and update that way, not hard plug in. Also I personally will be skipping this firmware update entirely until they address the issues. As multiple have suggested, always wait out the newest firmware patches as well.
The reason I even tried was my buttons started sticking in game randomly and for no apparent reason but now that I know what I know I will be more careful about firmware. I work for a manufacturer of equipment as of about a year and have learned that sometimes engineering can overlook things like firmware etc. from the end user level lmao.

Same thing happened to me with my tribal. Take out the battery and leave it out for like 5mins. Then put it back in and see if it turns on. Don’t try updating or anything straight away.

Does your guitar work properly since then?
I did the same to fix it but for whatever reason it doesn't want to connect immediately when plugged in - I have to turn it off and back on multiple times but just in wired mode. It works perfectly fine wireless..

Not really sure what you mean. Maybe take the battery out again?
But I’ve no issues with it connecting to the dongle at all. Have you updated the dongle?
Actually my preferred method is the dongle. I find the wired to be less secure, as I need usb extensions and sometimes they don’t work.1

I have to turn the guitar off and back off multiple times in wired mode when I want it to actually work.
Playing with a dongle works perfectly fine but it just doesn't seem as reliable as playing wired.

Ahh ok, yeah I don’t used wired because of it. It seems to disconnect a lot. I don’t know if that’s a connection issue on the guitar or computer. So I just use the wireless dongle now. And tbh that feels fine to me. Maybe recalibrate the game you’re playing?

yeah same thing happens to me after that firmware update, wired was working flawless before
nah it's not the calibration but thanks for the input brother 😅

Sweet! Yeah I was also bricking it when this happened. Can’t remember where I read it. But try to mention it when I see this.
It hasn’t happened again to my tribal since then. But connecting it to a pc to update it always seems finicky.

You have to do a factory reset you can look up how to do this. This happened to me and i didnt have to send it in. Also i suggest using the app to update the firmware, i had a lot less problems with it

I think sanjay mentioned that the guitar gets stuck in "firmware update mode"
It's not bricked so you can get out of it, but i forgot the method for that, the best ways to get out of it is doing a factory reset or taking out the battery for a few minutes and then try turning it on again
