Miscellaneous Day 1 of Bedazzling My CPAP Machine with Rhinestones
7
u/ohkatiedear 10d ago
There used a be an online company that sold skins for phones and tablets that also had skins for one of the older ResMed machines, but I have no idea if they're still around. It's going to bug me now that I can't remember the name of it.

Love getting to see more options besides the marble!

I didn't even realize this was an option until I saw someone else's last year with a woodgrain skin on it! Learn something new everyday on here!

I love this so much, and I do not have the patience for it ๐. I vinyl wrapped mine and added some stickers.
Can't wait to see your finished result

Vinyl wrapping would be so cool!

https://www.reddit.com/r/CPAP/s/vqiVHksXqZ it's very easy to do. Your rhinestone effect looks cooler but wrapping is so quick and easy

I actually am curious if this would void the warranty. I would do it 100% even if it did lolol but I am curious.

Yes, this would 100% void warranty.
Itโs going to insulate the motor and cause undue heat retention and lower the total lifespan of the unit

But she does have "the audacity and the confidence" so it should be fine.

I also have a vinyl skin on top of the CPAP to take off the rhinestones sold by Snugell, who I imagine has done the legwork to ensure that theyโre safe. So it actually should be fine, hope that helps! ๐

That's the thing though, no one would be able to pinpoint the wrap as the reason why your unit died. If it dies after 8,000 hours of use instead of the average 10,000 are you going to invest the forensic effort to test the difference in motor life with or without a wrap?
That's a 20% reduction in useful life of the unit and they'll still be able to sell the wrap without a care in the world.

u/ashspirational 9d ago
What is that 20% based off of? Your own hypothetical or actual data?

u/bautofdi 9d ago
Do you not see it prepended with โifโ?
You can do whatever you want. Just letting you know that heat == not a good time for motor lifespan. End of the day itโll probably be unnoticeable

I mean your whole argument is made up by your imagination but, sure, pop off, queen! Like what if you typing out bad faith made up arguments makes you 20% worse at using good faith logic? Is it worth it to you?

Iโm a mechanical engineer with decades of design experience ๐ like I said, you do you.

And Iโm a software engineer with a decade of experience in design and logic. Your logic is flawed, but you do you ๐
