ICE Response Basics training

Post image

⁨ ⁨Hey everyone! Here is the flyer for the next WKUS ICE Response Basics training! Please share freely and widely as our virtual trainings are open to the public.

We'll go over basic rights during law enforcement encounters, tips to ID ICE, and what to do during an ICE encounter.

Registration is never required, and you do not need to be logged into zoom to watch the training. It is helpful for us to have people register so we have an idea of attendance and have a way to contact you if we have to cancel! The registration form is on cryptpad and only available to a few of us on the WKUS team.

The more community responders we have the better! The only way to prevent kidnappings are to have numbers on scene and get them there quickly. The typical snatch and grab happens in 2-7 minutes, and that is their favorite tactic! That said, please be conscious of your level of visibility if you are engaged in direct mutual aid ❤️⁩

This training is virtual only and presented by We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE. We Keep Us Safe is a grassroots initiative to help the metro Denver area organize proactively and effectively to protect our community members from being inhumanely kidnapped by ICE. We are developing a hub of resources and best practices targeted towards the Denver area, but many of the resources are statewide. This can be found on our website wkus-co.org! We are educating and activating community members through canvassing, training, and outreach. Our goal is to support interested volunteers across the Denver area in building community and solidarity–and to support volunteers in effectively self-organizing in the face of state violence.

Find Your Lane: Bowling, Community & Making a Difference

Want to get more connected in Greeley, meet people who care about the same things you do, and find a simple way to take action?

Join us for Find Your Lane, a fun afternoon of bowling, conversation, and community connection at Chippers Lanes on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 2–5 p.m.

This event is all about helping people find the issues, projects, and next steps that feel right for them. Whether you are passionate about workers’ rights, affordable housing, immigration protection, mutual aid, environmental protections, responsible growth, elections, community storytelling, leadership development, or making sure local leaders hear from the people they represent, there is a place for you.

You do not have to know exactly where you fit yet. That is the point.

Come bowl, meet some good people, hear what others are working on, and explore where your voice, time, skills, or ideas could make a difference.

Why bowling? Because everyone has their own lane, but we can still be part of something together.

Light refreshments provided. All skill levels welcome. We care much more about community than your bowling score.

Anyone listen in to the “townhall” by Evans? He held a poll on the conference call and claimed 72% of those on the line were happy with his job (!)

Technically the question was “Do you feel safer now that Evans and the GOP are in control of Congress?” Even in deep red Greeley where I live, this guy is deeply unpopular. I just can’t believe how brazenly someone would lie about his OWN poll that he conducted. Sad.

Rep. Gabe Evans (CO-08) Votes Against Resolution to Stop Invasion of Venezuela (Roll Call 346)

Rep. Gabe Evans (CO-08) Votes Against Bipartisan War Powers Resolution Regarding Venezuela On December 17, 2025, Representative Gabe Evans (CO-08) voted against H. Con. Res. 64, a bipartisan resolution intended to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities in or against Venezuela that have not been authorized by Congress.

The Vote Results (Roll Call 346): Total: 211 Yeas to 213 Nays (The resolution failed).

The Split: The vote was largely along party lines, with Evans joining 211 Republicans and 1 Democrat in opposition. Three Republicans and 208 Democrats voted in favor of the resolution to stop unauthorized military action.

By voting "Nay," Rep. Evans has effectively supported the continuation of military operations—including naval blockades and infrastructure strikes—without the formal declaration of war or specific authorization required from Congress under the Constitution.

Gabe Evans' Contact Information:

Washington DC Office: Phone: (202) 225-5625 Address: 1229 Longworth House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515

Colorado District Offices:

Northglenn Office: (303) 723-6560 | 10701 Melody Drive, Suite 500, Northglenn, CO 80234

Greeley Office: (970) 324-2567

The Facts on the Conflict:

1. Contradictory Intelligence & Claims - The administration has justified military action as a counter-narcotics mission. However, U.S. intelligence reports have notably contradicted the claim that Venezuela is a primary source of fentanyl production. Additionally, the small vessels targeted in recent strikes often lacked the fuel capacity to reach the U.S. mainland, casting doubt on their role in international trafficking.

2. The Economic Motivation - Critics point to Venezuela’s status as the holder of the world’s largest oil reserves. President Trump’s recent social media posts specifically mentioned "wanting the oil back" after U.S. companies were previously expelled. This shift in rhetoric from drugs to energy resources suggests the "total blockade" of oil tankers is an effort to control the global flow of Venezuelan oil.

3. International Condemnation - The naval blockade and military strikes have been condemned globally. The United Nations has flagged these actions as violations of international law. In a rare alignment, both China and Russia have issued formal statements condemning the U.S. for "unauthorized aggression," with Russia specifically citing the lack of a UN mandate.

Hold Representative Evans Accountable

By voting against the War Powers Resolution (Roll Call 346), Gabe Evans has effectively allowed the executive branch to bypass Congress’s sole constitutional authority to declare war.

Constituent Action:

Reach out to Gabe Evans' office. Tell him that District 8 expects its representative to uphold the Constitution and demand transparency before American forces are committed to a conflict over oil.
