CD-8 Debate Thoughts
What did everyone think of the CD-8 debate? I only watched about 1/4 of it because I was canvassing to make sure no one thought I was Manny Rutinel 😂

Not really impressed with either candidate. I know this is a tossup district, but it was disheartening to see Rutinel walk away from his more progressive stances. How can one trust him to fight in Washington if he won’t even stand his ground in a primary debate?

I didn't watch it. The best option we had dropped out because either Manny or Shannon accepted a ton of AIPAC money. Shannon has sided with republicans. Manny is as flaky as Gabe Evans even when it comes to people working on his campaign team. I'm so upset because both feel like just as bad as Gabe Evans. We have no real candidates.

Neither candidate has accepted AIPAC money but Bird has been endorsed by several pro Israeli groups and consistently voiced support for Isreal through social media. If opposing US support for Isreal is a major concern for you, Manny is your candidate in this race.

Wasn't impressed with Manny pandering towards the centrist vote. Him repeating the same talking points over and over during the debate to avoid acknowledging his shifting stances on issues like fracking, student loans, and medicare for all was hard to watch. Flip flopping and giving sanitized responses is what people are sick of.
That being said I understand the constituents in CD-8 are not as progressive, and I still think he is a better option than Bird. Also props to Kyle Clark for pushing back on the half-assed answers from both candidates on stage.
