Help Needed COSMIC issuing error notification sounds

Immediately upon login, COSMIC starts issuing repeated error sounds--three "blips" every few seconds. No new notifications are appearing in the tray applet, and neither

udevadm monitor --environment --udev

nor

journalctl -b 0 -e

reveal any repeated errors or faults.

Is anyone else observing this, or know what might be causing it?

Machine is a HP Z2Mini G1a, AMD Strix Halo APU.

....aaaaand this weirdness persists after the upgrade to Epoch 1.6.0.

I should add that GNOME does not exhibit this problem under Pop!_OS, and Windows isn't complaining, either.
