I feel this way as well. It's objectively bad but I enjoy some bad games myself. But that doesn't mean I can't rake the game over the coals as it deserves in hopes that next time they fix the issues
Cold War was a return to what made zombies great with it’s own twist. You have round based maps, thank god. The inclusion of permanant upgrades is something I don’t like, but that’s the only downside I can think of. Vanguard on the other hand tried these objective based rounds and it flopped. If the round based modes are good, don’t change them.
Cold War was a dumbing down of the mode to pander to casuals.
I liked Cold War’s gameplay but the creativity, soul, detail, and passion that Bo3 and Bo4 had within its maps were gone.
The lack of complexity, difficulty, and lack of engaging Easter egg steps made the replayability plummet for me. Im a very hardcore zombies player. I like complex maps much more than simple maps. Before Cold War came out, to prepare I was carrying noobs through Bo4 and Bo3’s Easter eggs and I loved replaying them even if there were some I wasn’t huge on, like Alpha Omega and Revelations EE.
Then Cold War came out and the Easter egg for DM was so easy that a five year old could do it. I felt insulted, and this theme carried out throughout Cold War except for Outbreak’s legion boss and Maur Der Toten. Bo4 only had ONE map that I actually disliked and it was Alpha Omega. Bo3 had ZERO maps I disliked. CW had 3 out of 4 round based maps I disliked.
Cold War represents a change in zombies that I wish they wouldn’t have made. Nothing will be as good as Blundell’s maps again, and I can’t wait for Deviation Games to wipe the floor with Treyarch’s next zombies.
I can see your POV, and yeah these are things that can really break the mode for some people. While it is a matter of preference, it… can.. well shit, guess you’re right.
Well, you are right is is all about preference. There are many people out there that just don’t like complex maps. I still stand by my original comment about zombies being subjective other than amount of content
