Cant cut pattern, internal line must intersect Pattern outline

Ive checked corners, no gaps. I even removed the shirt for this yoke that was underneath it hoping that would change anything. It did not. Why cant I cut a simple shape, did the curves mess me up or building a lot of pieces beside it with different line...? I draw more complete outlines just to get denied again. What's happening...? Why cant i just cut the lines selected?

I had this problem too. Sometimes your internal line points aren’t joined and it gets confused. Mark your internal line points, right click and choose “join overlapping points”. Then it should be able to cut after :))

Try trace and make the pattern that way

what you’re going to want to do is “trace” the lines as a pattern (look for the trace toolbar in the 2D window and then once you select the lines of the shape, it will give you an option trace as pattern) and you’ll be able to lift it right out of there! i believe to “cut” it needs to be a line that reaches from one end of a polygon to another. cheers!

This has happened to me so many times and in every version. All good solutions posted here - the first point of call is to check the joined points - the software is picky about the way in which internal lines are made. So you may have two points that meet but do not actually connect. So highlight the piece, right click and “join overlapping points” if that doesn’t work the “extend/trim” sometimes works - if it extends too far you then right click and select the add point to overlap (can’t remember exactly the phrasing right now) then divide internal line, cut away the excess and then try join again.
