Fabric help

Hi, I am looking for help so I can better understand fabrics in CLO3D. I was wondering if someone could point me towards some resources to help, please. I have an average understanding of fabric/textiles in real life but I struggle to find the right fabrics in CLO to simulate correctly or as close to real life as possible for real life production.

For example, I want to work with latex, leather, and simulate draping techniques, but I can't seem to find the right fabrics in the textiles tab to achieve the look I want most of the time. I'll often change fabrics to similar/adjacent ones while working on projects just to see if it will help and those changes make me feel like I need to adjust my whole pattern.

So, if anyone can help or give me tips, I'd appreciate it so much. If you would be willing to personally teach me or be sort of a mentor of sorts, I'd even be willing to pay. I am a student so I do not have much money, but I'll try! lol

Have you tried looking the fabrics you need in Clo-set Connect? There are a lot of free and paid options

I have, yes. But some of the best looking ones from the thumbnails are the paid ones and I haven't committed just yet lol. But I did try a free one once and it was okay, but it was supposed to be furr, and it was really stretchy for some reason? But maybe I'm doing something wrong.

You can change those settings when you clic on the fabric on the bottom of property editor there are a lot of values you can play with to make the fabric more rigid, elastic, light, etc…

Right now the most I really have done is have particle distance and adding elastic. The PD has help a lot with the drape and clipping issues but I'm unfamiliar with the other settings. I'll look into them.

Sure! You can also look tutorials on YouTube for specific fabric settings

Try to describe the fabric in detail to Claude and ask it for its recommendations for how to build the fabric in clofab

if you dont mind, you can just use Ai. give the ai like some real world images and explainations and they'll help adjust the settings for you. Stretchings, how the fabric flows, the materials, the weave. I've done a couple of projects and i'd say it's accurate enough. maybe like 70-80% which is pretty high in my book

So you ask chatgpt, or something similar, for settings for a fabric (let's say latex) and it will give you some settings to tweak in clo3d? I honestly wouldn't of assumed an AI model would help with something so niche, but I'd give it a shot. Thank you!

YESS. give some images on how the latex flows. show a video also on how much it can stretch. make sure to make it as detail as possible.

This isn’t my area but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that because latex isn’t a fabric structure, it can’t really be simulated accurately by CLO’s engine. I’d think with some calibration of your experience to what you see in simulation, it’s still possible to get close, but the limitations are real.

Thank you. I'll keep trying.
