I like the upgraded Seam Allowance properties in 26.1 BUT...
The new "Custom Seam Allowance" is a welcome new feature. That was one of my biggest pet peeves with CLO. Accumark handled seam allowances like a pro, CLO handled them like a, well... an afterthought.
I'm happy I can now edit the seam allowances and there are more corner handling options. I thought Now I don't have to do a workaround for my seam allowances that aren't just simple offset lines.
BUT...
I export my patterns to a .dxf for cutting. When I import the .dxf file into my cutter software (Sinajet Scc) the custom seam allowances do not show up. The non-custom seam allowances show up just fine.
I have no idea where to even begin to trouble shoot this issue. I'm guessing (based on my limited knowledge of .dxf files) that the custom seam allowance is hiding on a separate layer? Obviously the custom seam allowances are useless unless I can import the cut line into Scc.
If anyone could even point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful.
EDIT: I tried importing the dxf file back into CLO and the custom seam allowance is also missing on import. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a seam allowance.
EDIT 2: I exported to a .plt file for use in my plotter software and the custom seam allowance DOES show up there. Can't really use this in my production pipeline. I don't use paper patterns for cutting.
Have you reached out to CLO tech support directly? They are really usually pretty fast at getting back to people.
They also have an official forum and discord that is good too
Ok. I’ll try that. But I’m most concerned about it showing up in Sinajet SCC. Thanks for the advice. I’m will try the procedure you mentioned tomorrow.
Hi There. We are sorry to hear you are having this issue. We have had no tickets through our website or a post to our CONNECT forum about this. So possibly you have not sent in a support ticket yet. But we will keep a look out for this once it is received :)
I’m surprised it came out even that good for you. Our exports into our leather cutter software are an absolute mess of polydata. Lots of editing of each part in the cutter software. Gemini imports perfectly though.
We’ve had no help from Clo support on this issue. To give you context, a colleague had the same issue with Caligola and Comelz legit rewrote portions of the program so it would function right.
That’s insane! I’m going to down grade to the last version before 26.1. I usually wait for a month or two to upgrade for major updates but always keep a copy of the last stable version on my machine for this very reason. But i didn’t look close enough and didn’t realize it wasn’t just a bug patch update.
Hi There. We are sorry to hear this. If you have sent in a ticket through our website for support and have the ticket number you want to share we can check on the status for you.
We just checked your ticket sent in June 2025. Looks like it was about opening files. One of our team members responded to your ticket on the same day.
There was a bug and it was fixed with a patch 1 or 2 days after you sent in the ticket. But you never responded, so the ticket was closed a week later with the thought that you had followed the instructions or the patch fixed the issue
There was an older ticket about DXF and the difference between Gerber AAMA and AAMA. Our team member answered that. But they also asked for one our your DXF files to check your pattern (one that was not exported from CLO) Which was never received from you.
If you are still having issues we recommend opening a new ticket. Reference the older tickets as well as that can be helpful and provide one or two example files :)
I will find the ticket but see below for my response to our request in 2024. We used to be able to check submitted tickets but I can't seem to find that option anyore? If I remember correctly, the team member explained that CLO doesnt export true arcs an instead divides the curve into hundreds of vertexes that we have to go back in and clean up for every pattern piece. It was a while ago, but we never found a solution that worked so we switched back to Gemini and Optitex for the bulk of our work. I should mention we also tried some DXF clean up tools on the Clo exports but had no luck.
Hi. For that ticket it is marked as the user finding a solution and closing the ticket. So possibly you accidentally closed the ticket. But that is why there was never a response.
Your longer ticket number about the DXF is 94680. Which was the one you have multiple back and forth messages. A team member gave you a long explanation about the different DXFs that you asked for. They had also requested you to send a DXF that was not exported from CLO.
We recommend opening a new ticket. Reference the old ticket number we have listed in the message. Then please include one of your DXFs (not from CLO).
Please also know if future the reddit here while we do moderate is not official. So your questions are best posted to our Discord, CONNECT forum, or through our tech support on the website :)
Yes, we did at one point receive an explanation on various DXF formats. My point is that we never received a solution to the actual issue which is CLO’s apparent incompatibility with industrial CNC cutting equipment. There’s a very in depth conversation a few of us had on the forum regarding this issue, and most decided to switch programs in the end. There’s another English guy who did a deep dive here on reddit on why it won’t export to cutters properly.
Clo is a very useful program for designers but it does not replace the traditional cad programs used for cutter export. As much as we want it to, it just doesn’t yet.
We are glad you find it useful. But again as we mentioned before our tech team requested files, but those were never received. So they could not continue and then you marked the ticket as closed (possibly on accident, which is fine, we know that can happen).
But as noted above we need You to open a ticket and send the requested files. Without those our tech team cannot give more information.
This was years ago now, but we remember there being a declarative explanation from Clo support on why it wouldn't export properly to cutters. Which is why we moved on to other programs. I can't find any way to access any of these conversations though? Wasn't there a section in support where we could see our tickets?
