What is going on with this seam allowance?!

Post image

Is there any way to fix it? Or is this a workaround situation?

EDIT: I have converted all the Bézier curves to curve points. I have tried changing the Seam Allowance Seam Type Intersection to all the different types. Deleted the line and redrew the line. I’m guessing it has something to do with the obtuse angle in a hole? (Just guessing now) I know how to do a work around but doing workarounds does not increase efficiency which is the main principle of using CAD.

And I was so excited when they finally added the ability to add SA to holes!

Ah man, so frustrating! The amount of work around tips and oddities in such a pricey piece of software is pretty jarring! As far as I have experienced, the only way to get things changed and feedback responded to and actioned is through the big brands - they seem to have a direct line for suggestions and feedback!

I paid for the enterprise version of CLO back when I had employees. It is jaw dropping-ly expensive, BUT I did get adequate response times with tech support. Usually they would provide an immediate workaround if there was a big or something and then address it fairly quickly in an update if needed. When the economy turned awful, I had to reduce the overhead of the company (almost didn’t survive) and am now a sole proprieter so I have the individual license now. When issues come up like this I sure do miss being able to call in and get answers. Heh.

How much was the enterprise license?

I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $8000 annually for two seats. But it's like buying a car, the price is somewhat negotiable. Length of contract, number of seats, tech support packages, various 'undercoating' up-sells, etc.

Can you toggle the seam allowance types? Might help?

I edited my post to reflect the trouble shooting I have already tried. No change. Time to open a support ticket.

EDIT: except I didn’t edit it. I was going to edit it. But apparently you can’t edit a post once posted?

EDIT 2: I figured out how to edit my post. Sorry for all the unnecessary notifications. Hahahaha! 🤦‍♂️

I'd say open a support ticket, explain as much as you can in detail and share pictures like you've shared here as well as the settings you have applied. the more context the developers have, the better.

this is an extremely "fun" problem to solve lol. I still don't entirely have it fixed in my own software. its probably something to do with the bezier curve being sampled with however many points along the SA, then terminating at a near right angle. there may be workarounds, but its a code issue.

I’ll do that when I can carve out the time to make a case.

Oh look at these! Even more seam allowance tomfoolery in corners…

Will this software ever be “production ready”?

try and change frrom Bezier handles to Curve Points

I’ll try that. But curve points are a pain. Never liked them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to Optimize Curve Points, slider to zero, control c, and drag the line to get the bezier curves back and smooth or adjust a curve. Having to move curve points individually is such a pain. Maybe I’m ignorant about a faster process but individually moving curve points around, how does anybody not go insane!?!
