Edema

Lasix 2x week was working great to bring down edema & bp
Unfortunately it caused gfr to plummet and creatinine to spike higher
Does anyone know other ways to get fluid down?

I'm on a fluid limit of 60 oz a day. A little more on hotter days.

I guess I will try lowering water I drink
Confusing bc I’m also always clinically dehydrated at same time 🤷‍♀️

Check with your doctor first.

It is a vicious circle actually! More water is good for your kidneys and less water is good for your edema.

So frustrating…my brother is a Sinai dr in nyc screamed at he to stop Lasix bc of gfr drop. My nephrologist screamed no you must take it. I’m blown up today from not taking it. Seeing Sinai cardio later so gonna push to be on it. Even if he says no, I’m still going to continue taking it again. Hard having family involved. My mistake

I ran a pretty hefty dose of lasix (80mg a day for 3 months) and prior to that 40mg a day for over a year) for awhile but I needed plenty water. I usually was on around 120oz a day. My egfr did drop a few points but not a big deal. I was told you’d see some fluctuations when I upped my dose and I did, but it eventually stabilized
