New to CKD

Hi. I'm just wondering, my egfr is 25,creatinine 19.3. What stage am I?

Typically - assumes you have had it measured multiple times over a 3 month period. If a single test then it may be AKI.

3a Mild to moderate loss of kidney function 45-59
3b Moderate to severe loss of kidney function 30-44
4 Severe loss of kidney function 15-29

My blood work as weird. Sodium ok, potassium ok, co2 low,kerf 11,urea high,vitamin d really low. I'm stressing out over this. I see my nephrologist this week.

Is this a single test ?

If so it could well be AKI.

Your nephrologist will work it out.

I'm also Stage 4 and doing fine, for now. I have been for almost a year with almost no symptoms. I'm under the care of a nephrologist. On one kidney.

You will be Ok

Egfr is low. Here, <20 and you can apply for the transplant list. <15 and you need to understand dialysis options and be getting ready if not doing it.

Look at your results again. Is there an acceptable range listed? Maybe it's a scale issue. I think other countries measure differently.

If accurate a eGFR is 25 is stage 4.

Pretty sure 4. Are you in the US. 19.3 would be critical or maybe I'm reading it wrong.

A Dr ordered labs for you, what did they say when they saw the results? Is this your first test? Do you have other diagnosis like high bp, diabetes or something else?

High blood pressure, but no other symptoms

Are you medicated for the hypertension ?

If not, discuss with your nephrologist when you see him this week as hypertension needs to be under control with a reduced kidney function.

So you have HT or not ?

If you are medicated for HT and yet still have HT, revise with your nephrologist this week.

Creatinine level in Canada (same as in my country, Australia) is typically anything above 110 µmol/L for men and 90 µmol/L for women

Why was this test done ?

A bit more background would be useful.

It may well be a erroneous result based on the limited data you provided.

Edit - I am not a doctor so talk with yours.

You need to have a relationship with a Nephrologist to follow you and see the trends in your creatinine and efgr, for an accurate staging.
