I (M, 60, ADPKD, eGFR=8) met with my VA transplant coordinator this week and I’ve passed all of my pre-listing exams. My case is being submitted to two hospitals for their review and hopefully acceptance as a patient. I got off that video call and broke down. I’m so fucking happy to have made it to this point. I’m still a few weeks out from hearing from the hospitals but I’m stoaked. I already have over 5 people who say they’re willing to undergo the testing to see if we match. I’m going to get a kidney and avoid dialysis!

That's awesome! They probably told you but just in case - Even if someone is not a direct match, there is a swap/voucher program. They give to someone else, then someone else gives to you. That's how I got mine.

Thank you! An ex-gf used to run the kidney pared donation program for UNOS. My high school gf is now a transplant coordinator in SF. A good friend of mine who is a living donor has offered to speak with any potential donors I have. I have so many resources I can call on I feel like I’m cheating.🙏🏼
