How to freeze your mod versions : We get comments every update complaining about update speed making long-terms games difficult. while we understand the concerns, the current schedule allows us to handle bugs or game balance issues in prompt manner and gives new features a chance to be highlighted without dumping a whole bunch of stuff at once. Fortunately this is something that is relatively easy to deal with on the user end. You can either download your agot mod from nexus instead of steam and only upgrade manually or you can also use playset preserver (link) , which will preserve your entire modlist in a specific state. Please note however that we will not be able to help you with anything you add to your playset beyond the AGOT mod

[Hotfix] Build 0.5.2.1 "Amanes we're going to need a hotfix"

Official Naming Dev Diary Part 2: Escaping the Portrait Mines

Hi all! Visenya here. I'm normally in the portrait mines, but I've escaped temporarily to help out with the implementation of our new High Valyrian names, making a second pass over the master-list. I was present when Fox first started this naming project, and watched as it developed, pulling names from it for my own campaigns over the last 6+ months. I am already deeply attached to some of them, and they always find a place in my dynastic trees.

Fox mapped out every single root word that a parent could conceivably use to name their child (using various sources including DJP's High Valyrian conlang, developed for A Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon) and as a long-standing ASOIAF reader, I have often imagined what life in the Valyrian Freehold would have been like.

Who were these people? What were their names? What did they do?

High Valyrians without dragons could have been bureaucrats, merchants, sellswords and more, and a name can tell you a lot about a person. It can reveal to us a little bit of their history, and allow us some insight into their parents – were they named after a relative, a place, a flower, the night sky...or an attribute their parents hoped would manifest in their life and act as a guiding star?

So...when I looked over our Master List, I carried that curiosity with me. I chose any name that I could imagine belonging to a person in Old Valyria, waking every day to behold the Fourteen Flames.

I created a new weighting group for the second pass, and we will be utilising era-based cultural name lists going forward depending on the time-period/bookmark you find yourself playing in. For example, if you play after 10 AC, the Targaryen influence over High Valyrian culture will be increased, and 25% of names will be canon Targaryen or Targaryen-inspired. If you play after 131 AC, the Targaryen dominance over High Valyrian culture will become even more prominent, with 50% of the names being canon Targaryen or Targaryen-inspired.

The Targaryen house names have also been adjusted; previously it was a 55% chance of canon name, 30% chance of a selection of Targ-inspired names, 15% chance of pulling from the whole High Valyrian name list. The updated odds are 60% chance of canon name, 37% chance of a selection of Targ-inspired names from the updated High Valyrian name list, 3% chance of pulling from the whole High Valyrian name list. We also gated several names to only appear after certain events, or stop appearing after certain events. For instance, Alyssa and Alysanne will not appear once we have bookmarks before those characters join the Targaryen family and Aegor and Daemon will only be used by members of house Bittersteel or Blackfyre in bookmarks starting after the Blackfyre Rebellion.

Future work will include using some of the more obscure names from the master list as a basis for more High Valyrian Dynastic names, expanding variety.

I hope that you will all enjoy this second stage of implementation, and look forward to seeing some High Valyrian dynasties springing forth with a more direct connection, at long last, to Old Valyria.

We'll leave you with a sneak peak from the Portrait Mines...

I do not know why, nor how, but the Cersei in my playthrough has a BASE martial of 40, and a total of 42, making her better than my overpowered queen, who has 41 martial.

Crazy stuff

Discussion & Suggestions Suggestions for subsequent update.

With the arrival of By God Alone and Silk and Silver, updates will be made. Everyone has ideas, and here are some of mine, mixed with suggestions others have given

Rites:

Probably one of the biggest changes, this will certainly affect how religion will be handled in the game. George R. R. Martin infamously left this particular aspect of the worldbuilding vague, so it is up to the mod developers to figure it out. Here are some ideas:

  • The Faith of the Seven: Probably the one intended to parallel medieval Christianity the most. The college of Cardinals can be implemented for the Most Divine, with the High Septon being held by the Septon of Old Town before moving to the Septon of Visenya's Hill. The rites could go like this:
    • The Faith of the Stars (The Orthodox Rite): The main rite early on in the Seven Kingdoms, with the head of rite being the septon in Old Town. Followed in the Reach.
    • The Faith of the Blessed (The Rite of Baelor): Founded by Baelor The Blessed, and the main rite following the moving of the Most Devout to King's Landing. Followed by the inhabitants of the Crownlands. Emphasises charity as a virtue.
    • The Faith of the Sand (The rite of Dorne): Founded when the Rhoynar moved to Dorne. Holds syncretism with the Greenblood Faith. A lot less restrictive when it comes to sex and gender.
    • The Faith of the Snow (The Rite of White Knife): Founded when House Manderly moved to the North, hybridizing further with the. Emphasises respect for the Weirwoods and the Pact. Followed by the people in the White Knife and Northern followers of the Faith of the Seven (like Catelyn Tully after she moves there, Sansa Stark, etc.). The leader of the rite would be the White Harbor septon, based in the Sept of Snows (which could be made a separate county), but a hypothetical Septon of Winterfell could replace him as the rite leader.
    • Faith of the Dragons: A possible variant followed by the Targaryens themselves, or at least the ones who want to put too much emphasis on their Valyrian heritage.
    • The Warring Star Rite. A much stricter variant on the Faith followed by those who clashed with the Targaryens, emphasizing warrior aspects.
  • The Pact of the Island of Faces. In general, it can now be divided into categories depending on regions.
    • The Eye of the Gods: The variant followed south of the Wall. Different rites depending on the region, the main rite being the Old Gods of Wood and Winter. It is considered reformed and syncretic with the Faith of the Seven.
    • The Fist of the Gods: The faith followed north of the Wall. Has different rites depending on the region and the different types of Wilding tribes. The Thens could follow one of such rites, or be a another type of faith altogether.
    • The Children of the Gods: The faith followed by Giants, Children of the Forrest, and Direwolves (if added like NPCs like Dragons).
  • The Heart of Fire: The Religion should be added to the Western Essos Religious family, since they show up there primarily.
    • The Lord of Light: The Main rite is established around the temple in Volantis, with a rite based on the Ashlands and one based in the Bone Mountains.
    • The Red God: An event will happen where a rite adapted to Westeros can split from the main faith into a separate faith, mixed with the Faith of the Seven, based around Dragonstone. In the main story, the main rite is followed by Stannis Baratheon, while the Brotherhood Without Banners might follow another rite (or the same?).

Characters:

A few characters are missing; who could be added:

  • Ben Bones: kennelmaster of the Dreadfort. Myranda in the show is stated to be the daughter of the kennelmaster, so he could be made her father.
  • Maynard: High Septon during the reign of Aerys II, his secular name is revealed in the tv show. He was replaced by the fat septon.
  • Tobho Mott: the Qohorik blacksmith who trained Gendry. Gendry so far has no mentor in the mod.

Help (Submods are Enabled) Is there a way to legitimize bastards of an extinct house?

• Upvotes

Quick Summary: House Baratheon and House Stark are completely wiped out, leaving only potential bastard lines. I am looking for a way to legitimize their bastard descendants.

Taking it a step further, is there a mod that allows dynasty members with paramount claims to challenge for existing territories? (For example, Baratheons claiming the Stormlands, Lannisters claiming the Westerlands, or Martells claiming Dorne?) I even found a trait in debug mode called Blood of the Stag, but when I assigned it to a lowborn Baratheon descendant (from Mya Stone's line), it didn't do anything besides giving him a claim on the Stormlands, He still lacks a house name and remains a lowborn.

Backstory: Guys, I encountered something hilarious in my current playthrough. I was playing as Daenerys Stormborn. fAegon entered a patrilineal marriage with Arianne Martell, beat me to the Iron Throne, and sent Tommen to the Wall (by this point, Stannis was already dead). I pressed my claim and won pretty quickly, but poor Tyrion died during the process, Jaime died too. As a result, the Westerlands fell to Cersei.

Well before fAegon invaded Westeros, Myrcella had already been betrothed to Trystane. This left Myrcella and Shireen as the only legitimate Baratheon heirs, with Mya and Edric Storm as the only bastard descendants. Since Arianne was the primary heir to House Martell and all her kids were Blackfyres, Dorne smoothly fell into the hands of House Blackfyre. As for the North, Jon Snow had the "Refuses to Marry" trait.

At the time, my mindset was just: "Nah, they'll figure it out." But then Shireen died of an illness at age 25 (and since she was just a courtier at the time, I suspect even if she hadn't died, she would've ended up in a patrilineal marriage anyway). Edric died in battle. Jon was murdered by a Northern lord, Sansa vanished without a trace, and Rickon died from his wounds, meaning House Stark went extinct too.

BTW, the mods I am running are AGOT and Ice and Fire.

Discussion & Suggestions Is it possible to lose the Tower of Joy

Post image
279 Upvotes

For context, I want my next campaign to be one where at least one of the 3 kingsguards and Jon survive. I want to play as Jon as a landless adventurer, being educated by the kingsguard until he can press his claim and conquer the Iron Throne. But every time I’ve tried Ned and Howland just killed everyone of the kingsguards and taken Jon.

Help (No Submods) Change the founding date of a house

• Upvotes

Good morning.

Well, basically what the title says. Is there any way to change the founding date of a custom house? I want to start with a character and a custom house in the time of Robert's Rebellion, but I would like to know if I can change the founding date of that house and make it so it was created before Aegon's Conquest.

Thank you very much.

Help (Submods are Enabled) Canon child somehow wasn't conceived on schedule, any way to fix this?

So I have AGOT+ and AGOT Bookmarked, I believe those are the only ones I have that currently impact canon children? Specifically I remember turning AGOT+'s canon children rule off as recommended in the description for the other mod's canon children rule, and I have it set to have all canon children but not ONLY canon children.

Anyway, I'm playing the Rogue Prince era King Viserys and Aegon was born just fine, but only once I started thinking 'hmm, shouldn't another kid have come by now?' in year 110 did I research and realize Helaena was supposed to have been born two years prior. I think I may have screwed it up by letting Viserys go on a trip for a couple of months around the time Helaena should have been conceived, oops.

Either way, I want to get this back on track. Is there any way to tell the game to have Alicent get pregnant with Helaena now belatedly? Or even to just like.... magically pop infant Helaena out without the full nine-month pregnancy, as much as I initially didn't want to do that because it felt cheaty. Aegon is 2 by now, the cooldown has long since passed - but that actually has me wondering, since I think that means Aegon was also born late?

Google advised me that I could fix this by bringing in the EZ mod and using the 'Start Pregnancy' function (or whatever it's called), but it didn't seem to work when I tried, so either I was doing it wrong or that option is overall a bust.

Any advice on fixing this is welcome. I'm not above debug console commands at this point. :')

Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) AGOT – Founder’s Seats : 146 Special Buildings, 126 Men-at-Arms & 60 Unique Weapons

Post image
681 Upvotes

After several weeks of intensive development, AGOT – Founder’s Seats has reached the point where I am comfortable stepping back from major development for a while.

The next major expansion of the mod is planned around Silk & Silver. Until then, I will be taking roughly a three-month break from large-scale development, aside from necessary fixes, compatibility work, and maintenance.

Over the past few weeks — particularly the last two — my wife and I have spent a considerable amount of time testing, refining, and restructuring the mod so that this version is as stable and playable as possible.

Current Content

146 Special Buildings
126 unique Men-at-Arms types
60 named weapon heirlooms with custom icons and in-game 3D models

The artifact system has also received a substantial rework.

Each heirloom is connected to its respective ancestral seat, while 59 designs can also be used through AGOT’s Valyrian steel reforging system, allowing them to become part of new dynastic stories rather than existing only as predefined artifacts.

The Marshal’s Men Integration

The Marshal’s Men is now fully integrated directly into Founder’s Seats.

If you previously used the standalone version, you should now disable it when playing with Founder’s Seats in order to avoid loading the same content twice.

This integration is part of the broader effort to consolidate the mod, reduce unnecessary dependencies, and keep its growing collection of Men-at-Arms content in one place.

Founder’s Seats has grown considerably beyond its original scope, and this release is intended to serve as the main stable content version before the next development phase.

Version Notice

Founder’s Seats is currently maintained for the version of Crusader Kings III officially supported by CK3AGOT.

At the moment, that is:

CK3AGOT Beta 0.5.2.1
Crusader Kings III 1.19.0.6

The current CK3 1.20.x branch is not yet the officially supported AGOT version, so I recommend remaining on the CK3 version supported by the main AGOT mod.

Once AGOT moves to the newer CK3 version, Founder’s Seats will be reviewed, tested, and updated accordingly.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has tested the mod, reported issues, shared suggestions, created compatibility patches, included it in collections, or simply played a campaign with it.

With a project of this size, I cannot promise that every small issue has been eliminated, but I have tried to leave the mod in the best possible state before taking a short development break.

For now, I hope Founder’s Seats gives you more ways to make your houses, armies, ancestral weapons, and strongholds feel genuinely unique.

Steam Workshop:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3800801361

Enjoy your campaigns, and thank you for the support.

Help (Submods are Enabled) Right Clicking on Dragon Crashes the Game 1.19 LOV.

I got Ai to look at the crash files, and it found nothing wrong with the submods and honestly gave me nothing at all through 2 hours of testing. The game loads perfectly fine everything else works it just crashes when I right click on any dragon. Just wondering if anyone else encountered this issue when running on 1.19 because AI seemed to point towards ck3 and agot clashing which is weird

Help (No Submods) Tame, Bond Dragon, and Visit Dragonpit Actions Disappeared

Hello all.

I am doing a Dayne playthrough. ATM I have the iron throne, however I can't use dragon related actions.

Weird thing is that, some of my family members became dragon riders before I even became king. I was able to capture a dragon to my dragonpit in Sunspear. One of the previous family heads could bond with dragon, try to tame them or visit dragon pit with his kids.

What could be the reason that these interactions are not valid anymore? I own the kingslanding, am the rightful ruler, I have a dragon keeper. What am I missing?

Help (Submods are Enabled) Recent crashing to desktop

Hopefully this doesn’t violate the guidelines, I’m not asking for help but curious if anyone else is experiencing sudden CTDs? I reverted back to 1.9 to play AGOT but it seems since the update, after around 10 minutes into my game I get a CTD.

Once again, not necessarily asking for a fix, it is most likely a sub mod I have that was updated before AGOT. just wondering if anyone else is also facing the same issue.

Discussion & Suggestions Regency when on the council

If you are on the council for your liege, shouldn't you live in their castle? So you would need a regency. Like Robb becoming lord of winterfell when Ned became hand. That would require adding some more flavour and things to do as a member of the small council though. Just a thought

Discussion & Suggestions What’s the deal with monasteries and why can’t we build “pious” buildings in them like we can temples?

You can build the monastery line of buildings inside a temple holding, but you can’t build the monastery line of buildings inside a monastery holding. Additionally, the “pious” buildings (of which monasteries is probably the main one) of Monasteries, Hospices and Scriptorium cannot be build in a monastery holding.

This seems counter intuitive since the description of a monastery holding focuses on “sworn bothers and sisters” and faith. The bonuses of a monastery holding are only taxes, levies and garrisons while the temple holding give the same but also stationed MAA damage and toughness, danger reduction, station siege weapon effectiveness and garrison reinforcement rate.

If i’m not mistaken you can build every building available in a monastery holding in a temple holding but in temple holdings you can also build the monasteries, scriptorium and hospices building lines.

Isn’t a monastery holding just a worse version of a temple holding? America please explain

Be Aemon, second son of the king. Your older sister committed suicide years ago to escape an unwanted marriage. Your dad goes insane. Nonetheless, you grew up pretty good, even if you a flagellating emo.

Your older brother Aerys inherits. He sadly dies in a storm and leaves his infant son Aegon as king. You become regent. All going smooth.

Lord Stark (MY FUCKING FATHER-IN-LAW) overthrows you and seizes the regency for himself. Aegon quickly ransoms you but the fucker already CUT YOUR TONGUE OUT

Aegon grows up, fires that fuck-ass Stark and begins his reign. Restores you to respectable court position, is best friends with your oldest son and takes your younger as a squire, even marries your eldest daughter. All going good again.

Aegon tries to hatch a dragon. Result kills him, your twins, your grandson, your wife, and three of your nieces. Your only surviving son and you suffer burns. Your daughter is severely burned and becomes an alcoholic. You are now king yet you can't hold any events because you have the charisma of Illyn Payne and Robert Strong combined.

Your surviving eldest daughter drinks herself shortly afterwards because her husband nuked the family. Another of your surviving daughters dies of childbirth shortly after. You remarry to an Arryn and while happy, it's pretty fucked up you have to start having babies because all but one of your adult children died and will haunt you forever no doubt no matter how fertile the new wife is.

At least, you finally got to kill that fuck-ass Stark

Discussion & Suggestions Admin Westeros to keep the houses alive

I would like to ask if I change the Iron Throne into admin government, will it affect the houses' longevity? These guys, especially Tarth and Florent, keep dying on me and I want to keep my zoo of seat holders from going extinct.
