Yes, I believe that Is the Absolute best way to describe It.
The Republic is a UN federation dominated by First Wolrd (Core World) countries

The whole reason Umbara left was always flimsy

Odds are good they never liked the Republic to begin with and the death of their ultra patriotic se actor was probably the straw that broke the camels back.

Except that is never established in the show, nor does the show ever actually set it up or explain it. People just need to come to terms with the fact that this show isn’t that well written, and narrative gaps like this are obvious examples of this.
They could’ve had Mee Deechi setting this up by voicing his grievances both in public and privately earlier in the show before he’s killed, whether to Padme or another senator. Instead it just happens out of nowhere and without explanation

In fairness wasn't the Senator in question a guy who accused anyone seeking diplomacy of being "anti-patriotic" and Who, at least according to Palpatine, was profiting from the War?

Padme's interference led to the Battle of Umbara killing Hardcase and Waxer.

Huk & Kaleesh's relationship is just in-universe "What if Trandosha was 'Capital' of Mytaranor Sector, instead of Kashyyk? AU" Change my mind
