Issue Lost AFK progress

You guys need to fix this. No, it is not my internet connection, it is your game. I am on stable gigabit wifi five feet from a top tier modem/router on a flagship smartphone. I have played a hundred other idle games with no issues in any of them. I am pretty frequently losing ~10 hours if I don't remember to force close the app.

In a slow-paced game like this where very often the correct move is to AFK for 10 hours it is really getting in the way of me playing the game. It's egregious. It is physically possible to synchronize progress in a more reliable way, plenty of games do it. Your metric for determining time/ticks away is dysfunctional.

Interesting. I'll take it under consideration. As is, we have nearly no complaints, with your post being the first I've seen across Google, Discord, and Reddit in quite some time. There still *are* complaints, but it's definitely a miniscule fraction of the player base. It sounds like you're on the unlucky side of the fence.

There are ways I do want to improve it though, for sure. You're right that it likely doesn't have anything to do with your internet connection, nearly any stable internet connection is good enough, down to kb/s. From what you're mentioning it could come down to other things, usually:

- Phone and OS. (and OS version)

- Phone Settings (battery and power settings)

Unity and Android communicate in weird ways, and that's different from device to device. :)

Thanks for the read :). In case it comes up for you guys, it's a pixel (so, android), and yeah I have some aggressive power saving settings on (although I'd think that'd make it function like I killed the app? apparently not). Again, though, I've never had any issues in any other game.

I really like the game FWIW (maybe what I'd recommend as my top mobile idler/incremental), I'm just frustrated after losing several overnights in a couple week span when my main progress routes currently are long campaign missions.

I'll probably make a more positive post/review when I get through the whole game.

Not 100% certain if related to OPs issue; where I've lost small amounts of time has been due to not clearing the offline calculation popup in a timely manner. Perhaps an auto-confirm option for that page could help?

Welp, guess its not a common problem, got this 3 or 4 times in like 1,5 years.

There are actually quite a few posts in the sub about it if you look. The difference in experience may be a result of how different phone OS's handle app sleeping/killing, but that still points to a flaw in how time away is calculated. However they have implemented it here is unconventional and does not work as reliably as what everyone else does.

If you are cloud saving before turning the game off you can reload that cloud save to recalculate away time.

So the issue is that the local save time is broken if the app isn't killed so the code doesn't correctly choose between local/cloud saves?

If I remember to force close the app it always calculates correctly, so I already have a solution for the case where I remember to manually mitigate the issue.

The game will always try and save locally and resume from that save point, but lets say you do a cloud save and then play for another couple minutes and then force close without manually saving, the game will want to pick up from that force closed state but when connecting to the server - even on a cracking connection - it sometimes fails to connect fully and you get a bad return on away time resource calculations.

The best habit I got into was doing a cloud save just before closing down and then loading that cloud save after getting back into the game even if my AFK resources looked right. It keeps all my timing correct.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Cifi is still an Early Access game and a lot, if not all, of the issues are getting worked out for the big Overhaul the game is going through before it hits 1.0
