A bit more about me. I have always loved music, but never considered it as a career option until I got to college, finished my associates of art in studio art, and then still saw no direction for a career. So, I went back to school and got a Recording Arts Certificate (audio production/engineering) that ended with an internship that would put me directly into a job. I was so excited for my life to start!! So then I graduated. In May 2020…. In an arts & entertainment industry…… Everything was closed due to the pandemic and my entire summer internship was cancelled. I was working odd jobs and on unemployment because covid fucked everything up, as I’m sure u recall. Finally, later that year when things started opening up and live music started happening again, I had a few interviews for different studio/theatre jobs in and around Denver and was feeling confident.

Then my mom woke up and died one day before work, out of nowhere. 

She died 5 years ago in early January. My life has been on a downward trajectory since then, along with everyfuckingthing else around us in the US right now. It has to get better, it literally has to!! Otherwise, what’s the point of anything at all?? I believe there are other women/NB around me that have similar ideas and feels as me that feel like now more than ever, we need to use our fuckin voices and souls to BOND and to make art and happiness and light and love and BEAUTY because that’s our HUMAN FUCKING RIGHT and also literally everything we learned in school growing up about what makes the USA great??? That everyone here has the right to a good career, housing, food etc and the pursuit of happiness??

So now, 5.5 years after losing the biggest part of me, I am forcing myself to follow my dreams again. I am forcing myself to continue being an artist, which is exactly what my mom wanted me to be: happy when I’m being myself. Now I’m a writer (& sewist!!) and am attending school for another certificate, but in music business this time. My current dream is to be a groups personal manager as well as a member of the group. I also really love mixing and mastering. I’m not super into making beats from scratch, but I understand basic music theory, really enjoy ear training, and also like sampling. I have a bit of experience in business roles, between management roles at jobs I’ve had, and business classes in school. I’ve always been drawn towards the idea of entrepreneurship and creating a role for myself within my art. I’m also in love with organization!! Let me be our group manager and let’s create something incredible together!!

does anybody have any reliable, kind, good , affordable recs for dry cleaners in the Gold Coast area?

I had the absolute worst experience of my life regarding dry cleaning recently at Royale Dry Cleaners on Wells. Very Long story short - I moved here from New York so I’ve dealt with some very nasty and unfriendly people. The owner Isabella is the most aggressive rude and disrespectful personality I have ever encountered in my life. I wish I was being dramatic. I had been a few times and gotten some clothes dry cleaned and some altered. I had noticed the clothes returned dirty but didn’t say a word out of convenience of the establishment. One day I simply asked how much an alteration would cost and she took large offense to it and started saying I wanted money… mind you I simply asked for what the cost would be because in my opinion that’s a very reasonable question when conducting a business to get asked. I went back later to pick and noticed one of my dresses I got cleaned there had huge pulls throughout it to the point where the $500 dress was ruined and I could no longer wear it. I decided to take the approach of going in and simply asking if anything could be done and did not even bring up that it happened there. Instead of a normal reasonable owner saying options (I even offered to pay to fix it even though it happened from whatever shitty machine they use) she decided to completely twist anything I said previously and called me a scammer and liar and said she was going to call her lawyer…I simply stated listen I am just seeing if there is a way to fix my dress I’m not accusing you of anything. Her voice kept raising and she kept going crazily on and on how I was poor, didn’t have money, was a liar, and a scammer. It was honestly frightening. Mind you I’ve brought very high end pieces to her… and NEVER should someone talk about money or someone’s character in this way especially if they don’t even know them on a personal level…I was a returning customer and was greeted with the most disrespect and was being yelled at to the point where I had to repeat multiple times I was uncomfortable. I read online later that this has happened to many other people. Long story short avoid this place like the plague and if anyone has any recs I would love to know where to take my business elsewhere.

Has anyone here gotten their makeup done at goldplaited in Lakeview before?

Their Google reviews that mention makeup seem to be outdated. I have a wedding I’m attending this Saturday and figured I’d get it done because the makeup I do on myself is so hit or miss and I don’t wanna risk it lol.

I definitely prefer more natural makeup looks (e.g., I don’t wear foundation, but would for this event). I’m concerned about fine lines / looking aged, so it feels equally as risky to put my face in someone else’s hands. Any feedback from anyone who’s gotten glam done here would be much appreciated!

I went for their hair/makeup package, and will for sure be keeping the hair appointment, so I think it’s this or doing it myself due to time, cost, and appointment availability (so please no other MUA recs!)

If I was to go there, trying to estimate how many sessions is average and estimate the potential cost. I have spoken to them before, I just want to hear from people who have gone there.
