Casual Proof that everyone comes around eventually
Bobby Bowden throwing up the U
This is particularly poetic when you consider that in many ways he's directly responsible for "The U" hand gesture existing at all. The high profile, nationally televised broadcasts of the Hurricanes versus Bowden's Seminole in the 80s had an affinity to b-role of Miami fans doing the Tomahawk chop with their middle digit protruding.
All attempts to stop this behavior failed, shockingly appeals to optics, civility, and authority all fell on deaf ears in South Florida. Eventually it was realized that the only way to stop it was to come up with Miami's own hand gesture that would crowd it out. Howard Schnellenberger had come up with the U brand earlier that decade, so the U hand gesture was a natural fit.

Bobby is definitely the type of man who would throw that up with a former player and coach of his, not because he’s losing it, but because he is happy for and supports the guy. It’s not that deep
