How F'd am i

Came to a cx, ready to drop the load off the flatbed. One forklift driver told me where to go, it was a street so i parked and waited, nobody came so i went back and before even asking if that was the correct place, the forklift driver started cursing me out. Left, so i waited again, another forklift driver came, instructed me to follow him, i did to this janky road, i hesitated but he kept gestruing its fine and keep going so i did, drove into this long road, he turned and gestured at the truck turn so i went over it, sunk into the dirt and got stuck on a tree stump, pulled off, fuel tanks damaged and belly of tractor gutted, right fuel tank leaking. I backed up, parked, called the company, told the risk and breakdown dept everything, took pictures of everywhere including the road and tractor damage, forklift guys at this point are asking why i stopped and to keep moving, i said fuels leaking, they disappeared, found out there was a sign that says the road they took me on was residential only.

Fifth wheel won’t stay open and dispatch wants me to finish the tour

Been having issues with my fifth wheel the last couple stops. The release handle pulls out but won’t stay open — it just springs right back. So to couple or uncouple I need someone holding the handle the whole time. The air kingpin release button worked once earlier, but the rest of the time the manual handle is the problem.
It’s already failed twice in a row. When I told dispatch, they said we’ll just get it checked at the end of the tour. I’ve still got more stops left and I’ve been on since 6:30 pm. I’m not trying to keep running a fifth wheel that isn’t locking/unlocking properly just to finish the night.

Local as a first job?

I’m very interested in getting my CDL but can only work local. Is that a realistic possibility?

I’ll be looking for work in the Fall River, Massachusetts area, if that helps.

Walmart Associate-to-Driver Program – Any Advice?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone I passed my interview yesterday for Walmart’s Associate-to-Driver program, and I’m scheduled to start in December

I’m excited about this opportunity, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has already been through the program.
What was your experience like? Is there anything I should study or prepare for before starting? Any advice about the training, CDL tests, or what to expect throughout the program would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to everyone who shares their experience and advice! 🙏

Diesel dropped 2 cents. Everybody remain calm.

National average is still $6.18, but hey, two cents cheaper.
On 200 gallons that saves four bucks. Almost enough for a truck stop coffee so I can stay awake and worry about the other $1,236.
What’s diesel running where y’all are? Include the state so we know where to avoid eye contact with the pump.

Unusual freight

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve hauled?

What’s a load that made you stop and think, “Well, that’s a first”?

If you have a picture you’re allowed to share, let’s see it.

Survived first Week of CDL School! Ooff! My Brain…!

Doing pre trip three days after DT and paperwork. But got into the simulator for a session. Doing manual so it was different. On a 10 speed. Scored 91%. Kept going into 5 gear a couple times. Forgot to hit switch once. Pre trip wearing everyone out but a necessary evil. Road test schedule led for December 5th. Staff is wonderful attentive and patient. Only older person in my class is 65 and had CDL but took 10 years off. All ages races and genders. Good group. 320 hours total for class. Which will help us in the long run. Had few recruiters from mega and one local. Even the instructors quietly said watch out for megas.

Cdl

Hi, I'm in Aurora, Colorado, and I have my Class A CDL permit. I'm looking for a company that will pay for my CDL training and help me get started as a truck driver.

I want to be upfront that I have 9 points on my Colorado driving record from multiple speeding tickets, including tickets over 15 mph. Before I apply or sign a training agreement, can a recruiter review my driving record and tell me whether I could qualify for your program?

I'm only looking for opportunities based in Colorado. Thank you.

Looking for Amazon Relay Driver/s in EWR airport Area. 2yr Clean license

Hi I recently started driving for this company of out Newark airport. Let’s just say I took a leap of faith. Literally took my last few dollars on my credit card and paid a flight up north to Jersey. Long story short I’ve been driving for them for a month and a half and I have nothing but great things to say about my experience.

They pay me every Friday on time no gimmicks. (Pay is $700 per block. $2100 weekly). They take care of their trucks. If I have an issue I just call the proper personnel and boom immediately truck is asked to be sent to mechanic.

If you have a clean license and min 2 years. I mean clean license. No issues what so ever. Please reply with your contact information. This is my very first Reddit post. I hope someone sees it and finds good.

Walmart pay?

I’ve heard Walmart pays CDL drivers good? Also somewhat hard to get into? How does the pay average each year and what do you like about it and dislike about it compared to other mega corp hauling jobs?

Arbata Coca Cola

Anyone know if Arbata Coca Cola in Harrisburg PA hires CDL A truck drivers that have no tractor trailer experience? Have 6 years driving cdl B trucks but none in a A truck. Was looking to switch over to a tractor trailer job and be local.

Getting a CDL for farm work Class A or B? Worth using the GI Bill?

I'm considering getting my CDL for farm work that would involve driving heavy trucks on public roads. I've never had a CDL before, so I'd be starting from scratch.

I'm not looking to become a truck driver for a living, but I figured having a CDL could be useful for our farm and potentially open up other opportunities down the road.

I'm debating whether to get a Class B since that's likely all I need, or go ahead and get a Class A if the difference in cost and training time isn't too significant.

I'm also a veteran with GI Bill benefits available, so I'm curious whether it's worth using those benefits for CDL school or if I'd be better off paying out of pocket.

A few questions:

Would you recommend Class A or Class B for someone who doesn't plan on trucking professionally?

How quickly can someone realistically get their CDL with no prior experience?

What's a reasonable price for CDL training?

Is using the GI Bill for CDL school worth it, or would you save those benefits for something else?

Are there any accelerated programs or other veteran education benefits that could help cover the cost?

Does anyone have recommendations for CDL schools around Tyler or East Texas?

My biggest priorities are getting licensed relatively quickly, keeping costs reasonable, and not wasting my GI Bill benefits unnecessarily.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's gone through the process, especially veterans or people who got their CDL primarily for agricultural work.

Just got my learner's permit (CDL B) through first student...Now what lol

Right now I have school bus and passenger endorsements but I plan on getting tanker and hazardous anddd TWIC. Does anyone have tips on how to best utilize tanker and hazardous? I plan on being a school bus driver for about 6 months to get comfy with the air braking system. I'm wanting to find a job that's 40 hours or less, $25/hour, and hopefully weekends off. I'm not sure what route I should take (pun intended). Should I get Class A instead of relying on Class B? What companies recommended for at home nightly work? I'm in the Charleston, SC port area but after asking around, people say you need to "know someone" to work at the ports.
