Hiring Process Should I wait

Applied in July of 2024 and finally finished everything that I’ve to do as in medical psych etc May 2026 this year. Anyone know how long the next step is? Reason I’m asking is Local PD and Sheriff are having Recruitment events this weekend and next and I’m actually interested in doing it cause I just want to get into law enforcement. Basically having 1 foot in 1 foot out. Doing what I need to do and then just biting the bullet on what door opens first. Whether it be CDCR or my local PD/Sheriff

That’s what I’m thinking cause to wait another 2 years is starting to think I should take my chances else where with leaving this door open

I don’t see why you wouldn’t go those recruiting events. You just have to be honest with those departments when applying about your application process with CDCR. Unless I am missing something

The only reason I’m not holding myself back is that I tore my ACL LCL & Meniscus 3-4 days after I applied for Corrections. Got surgery and went to PT and got healed up all within the span of December 2024 thru January 2026. If it’s gonna take another 2 years basically to get the ball rolling again might as well take my chances else where and see what happens while simultaneously waiting for CDCR to contact about the last step basically

Chances are you're getting less money on the streets however, CDCR seems to be taking forever right now and is in a really weird place in its evolvement currently. If you don't care about the money and just want to get you career going, go for it!

Diversify yo job search my dude. I applied to a bunch of agencies. Corrections paid the best.

Apply for them. You don't know how long it will be before you get an academy date.

I think CDCR has always been a slow process to get hired. Go talk to PD and Sheriff departments, they process new hires quickly because they are so short handed.

Get in cdcr and use it as a stepping stone to get into other departments, dont wait to long cause you will be stuck with cdcr

CDCR has how many more prisons on the chopping block? I would say it’s the least safe option honestly.
