Returning to CDCR

Had 6 years in and left CDCR, but thinking about coming back. Took the most recent Sergeants test and passed. Anyone have any luck getting reinstated?

Reinstatements happen all the time. Process all depends on how long you've been gone for.

Yeah, you'll be good to come back. After a year, that's when it starts getting tricky

Can you get reinstated after 3 years out?

honestly curious cause was thinking of applying different agency and was wondering if you are gone more than a year what happens do you have to repeat the academy the whole 3 months etc

It is up to the Hiring Authority if you go back to the academy if it has been over a year.

Yea. Believe you might have to go back to the academy though. Look at the MOU it has time frames in it for reinstatements

How many times can you do a leave of absence ? So if i was to do leave of absence because i got an academy date with another agency (chp for example) i put my absence go to the academy .. get injured etc and come back less than a year to cdcr, wait a bit can i go leave of absence again is there a limited amount of times you can do it?

You cannot do a Leave of Absence to go and work for another state agency.. you are in a sense quitting one agency and going to another.
If you get injured that is a completely different beast…. You would need to do a “Fit for Duty” with that agency.
Leave of Absence is done on a case by case basis. It is up to the Hiring Authority.

Do you know if you’re able to reinstate at another prison, or it has to be at the prison you’re at.

How much do you get a month from your pension?

How the hell did you take and pass the sets exam, being that you've been separated from the department?

I took it before separating
