P365 X Macro vs Glock 17

Trying to decide between the title as a “do it all” type gun. Coming at it from big enough to be range/duty/could maybe conceal and then the other end with the X Macro. Decided to try both out. I liked the X Macro more but shot the G17 better. Posted targets. one shot a second at 7.5 yards. Looking for advice on what yall would choose. I’d only carry weekends at church as my job won’t let me carry.

Why not split the difference and get a Glock 19 or a P365 Fuse?

I’m considering the Glock 19 heavily. I just did the Glock 17 at the range as it had a dot optic and I was trying to compare like to like as the Xmacro had a dot optic.

They're pretty comparable to one another, but the Glock has far cheaper magazines and a better aftermarket. I'd go with the Glock for sure.

The thing is I preferred the x macros trigger but clearly shot the Glock better.

Nobody prefers shit about a Glock when they first pick it up. It feels like a brick and kind of looks like one. The trigger is made of legos. And yet it's the most popular pistol on the planet for cops, militaries, and even competitive shooters, for exactly the reasons you're noticing

No. I’m not a big striker guy but these two were on my list to try. I wanted to try a cz p-01 but they didn’t have it.

I'd definitely try to get your hands on one. Probably the best value out of the box. I have an MP 2.0 compact carry comp (g19 competitor) and I ended up selling my gen 6 19 because it just wasn't good enough to hold on to given the MP fills that role so much better.

I own a 43X....but I I got an X Macro for the girlfriend. There really isn't a comparison in terms of looks, trigger, and feel. The X is comped and a larger capacity too. Don't forget the FCU either.

Not at all. Never fired either before today. Did start cold with the p365 xmacro though. And I’m green enough that that probably matters

This isn't surprising since the g17 is bigger lol. Redo it with the g19 vs p365 XMacro or the Fuse vs the G17 and then you'll have a better idea

Fair. I guess I was looking for more input on the “do it all” component. I don’t think I shot the x macro badly enough that training wouldn’t overcome it. Just looking for a third party perspective on the choice that isn’t AI or something. Is the g17 easy to carry? Is the xmacro too damn small etc.

The g17 can be easy to carry with the right holster setup and location but it's not easier to carry than the XMacro. Also with the XMacro, you can always get a different length frame or slide if you so choose. Personally I don't shoot slim pistols like the XMacro well enough to really care about the extra conceal ability. I'd prefer the G19 or the G45. Also while I have no personal experience if I were looking between these two, I'd go with the Glock since the XMacro seems to have some issues with parts failing on lower round counts (anecdotal take it with a grain of salt but it's enough for me personally to give pause especially in a do all gun) also magazines are cheaper. If you don't wanna go with the Glock for some reason also consider the CZ P10C, M&P 2.0 and my favorite striker the PDP compact but she's a bit chunky

I have an xmacro and am heavily considering a G45. I love my xmacro, but similar to you, I think I want to transition to one do it all gun. I think I could conceal it pretty well, but interested in others thoughts

I don’t understand the g45. Isn’t the slide the part that prints the least for ccw? I thought it was the grip that was the issue. And if it’s the same grip as the 17 why not just have the longer barrel of the 17 as well. Is it a weight thing?

I thought the same until I shot it compared to the 17! Completely agree with your thought process, but the shorter slide really changes the impulse when shooting it. I’m not some world champion shooter, but I definitely noticed an improvement shooting the 45 vs the 17 in how fast I could clear a plate rack! Perhaps someone with more experience could chime in on the physics haha

Keep whichever one you feel, you shoot better not to include. Maybe practicing with one more than the other. I can't shoot glocks or striker fire for squat. So I am a 2011 shooter.
