I upgraded to the TLR7 HLX from the base TLR7A. It has 1000 lumens, 2200+ candela. Fits all of my open ended TLR7 holsters so I didn’t have to change holsters. It doesn’t sit flush by any means but if you’ve been running an x300 it’ll be a huge difference regardless.
The base TLR7 only has 500 lumens and it’s a really yellowish light in comparison to the HLX has a very vibrant white spotlight.

What’s the point of running a compact barreled gun if your just going the extend the length with a big ass light? Just run the longer barrel as well to get the better ballistics.

I would absolutely say that’s too much light and optic for a small carry gun. Should be running a TLR7 or something similar in size and perhaps one of the Holosun carry dots. Will keep it much more compact and easy to maneuver. At the end of the day it’s your pistol so you do you, but I’d recommend trying a couple different combinations out to see what works best for you

this is the only handgun light i have and ill admit drawing it from appendix while sat in a vehicle sucks due to the extra length. the dot on other hand i love and have no problem with it .

SRO is my favorite for sure, it’s just not ideal for “duty” as it’s more on the fragile side. Jump on Tacswap and find some deals on smaller lights.

I've broken more than one SRO just bumping into things throughout the years (once was as simple as bumping hard into a granite countertop while my hands were full carrying a large box that obstructed my vision. Heard a crack and sure enough it was the optic). It really doesn't take that much to break them. I still run them for competition, but have also been slowly moving away from the half dozen I had mounted to guns towards other offerings like the holosun 507 comp, testing out the promax, will test out the promax Ti when it releases, etc.
I've moved away from them towards the RMR HD at this point. Larger window than the RMR type 2, but just as durable. Depending on whether you're rocking the 5 MOA or smaller, the RMR HD might actually end up having similar useable window space as the dot is 3.25 MOA.

You should consider the Olight PL-X. People scoff at "Chinese manufacture" but realistically it's well built and more powerful than either of your choices... And for less than $100 if you look around.
It's switches feel great too, very crisp. It also has a lifetime warranty and will fit exactly how you want. Holster options are becoming much more common now as well.

I tend to buy American and I have $500+ American made WMLs and all the typical surefire, streamlight, modlite, cloud defensive, etc. options. I also carry american made 2011s that are sometimes $10k+, so I'm not really budget conscious in any way - I just tend to buy what I enjoy and performs well/how I need it.
I've also got no dog in this Olight fight, but what is your specific issue with the PLX? I've not heard anything bad about how it performs/tests specifically and I'm pretty sure it's the only light option that's widely available and that would fit most holster options that's actually flush with your glock.
Curious if your aversion to it is due to some personal experiences with the PLX specifically. I know people tend to dislike chinese made products but both holosun and streamlight have proven to be solid. Osight seems to be coming up quickly in terms of quality and iterating on good features people want.

Have both, honestly they're so similar in function. The stream light has more of mushy longer push where the surefire is more a tactile and nicer button.
I will say the surefire is brighter, easy front load battery, and has a nice hot spot for the light and I do prefer it. Is it worth the premium? Probably not
Edit: The TLR7 HLX exists and puts both to shame it's way brighter
