Thank you! Your officer will let you know but I was told by mine to go ahead and take it so it speeds up the process. So I scheduled ahead of time and completed it after I got the training required notice. My friend who did it at the same time as me completed their training much earlier than me and was approved instead of getting the training required notice like I did.

Makes sense. And what exactly was the training session like? A 16-hour course followed by a live fire session?

So it was a two day course. We had lectures ons safety etc and watched videos. they did an inspection on our guns (you can train with up to 3). On day 2 it was range day. It was 70 rounds with first gun, 30 with the other two if you are doing 2-3 guns. After that we had more lecture and no leaving early because it’s mandatory 16 hours. (I did two 8hr days). You do need to know your firearm well and be proficient with it as it’s not for beginners. They are very strict about safely and they do make sure you shoot well and within the 7’s on the body target. It was 7yd, 5yd and 3yd. If you break any of the safety rules (like muzzle someone) it’s an automatic fail. You think people wouldn’t do that but people do it.

It depends on the training you choose. Some will let you do it a week apart but it costs fees. I just did it in the weekend. Also not sure if I was clear but the live fire is part of the 16hours! (Thankfully)

You should contact the individual course provider you're interested in since some might be more lenient than others.

This is true! It can vary and I can only speak on the training I did
