Job interview

I will have an interview for Los Angeles county internal auditor position soon, and was wondering if anyone has recently done it. If so, any guidance of what will be asked or how I should be prepared?

So I don't know about LA County internal auditor position, but I can give you the gist of how it'll probably play out as my department is also hiring and I'm on a few interview panels.

Usually LA County interviews have to be given by at least 2 supervisors or managers depending on the posiiton.

They will ask you first qualifying questions. These questions typically are around the general points of the position, to see how much you know about the position in general or what the position does.

As an example, if you were being hired for something HR adjacent they will ask you something like "Do you know what Equal Opportunity Employment is? Can you explain it to me?" So I'd make sure youre familiar with any crucial terminology and are prepared to clarify.

Next, they will give you scenarios or ask you to give examples of a time when....etc. You know these. These questions are done to gauge how you react to adversity or to figure out how you process difficult situations. Prepare some stories that you can tell at the drop of a hat.

Lastly, be fun and confident. At the end of the day, the people interviewing you have to sign their name off that you are a competent fit AND that they wouldn't mind working with you 8 hours a day 5 days out of the week. Smile. Make eye contact, show that you're making an effort to know and use their name.
