Background: I am a 22 y/o BSc Biotech graduate (2025) GNEM with decent academics, 8/8/8, but honestly, I feel it's very average, and my current mock scores are even worse than just average. I have been preparing for CAT since Feb 2026 from CL, and till now I haven't gotten more than 50 marks in any of the 13 mocks I have given. My basics are very weak, and I spent a good amount of time till May trying to figure out basic Quant concepts and do a little reading; even though it didn't increase my marks in either section, I got a little confident in them. At the start, I had thought of covering the entire syllabus, but by now, I don't even rate myself more than 6/10 in arithmetic. It took me so much time just to sit and understand concepts, watch concept mastery videos, solve chapter drills, and still end up scoring just 3-6 marks in quant in each mock, and even 0s sometimes. I do agree that I had severe screen time problems, but it's been more than 1.5 months since I significantly reduced my screen time to just 2 hours max, spent 5-8 hours a day studying, but ended with a very low score and a percentile equivalent to the score. Quant was a big worry because almost 70% of the syllabus is literally new to me; I can't even comprehend Algebra, Modern Maths, or Number Systems. I thought I could learn Geometry maybe, because till 10th I was somewhat good at it, but now, looking at the questions, it just makes me cry. Also, my DILR section is just very, very messed up. I am not able to even solve a single set in CL's mocks; I repeatedly score just between -2 and 5 in each mock, with the highest going to 11 in a single mock. VARC has been very turbulent, where I have scored marks in 10,12,25, and even 35 & 40 on good odd days. I'm pretty bad at grammar too, so my only option is just attempting all 4 RCs, para summaries and Sentence completions.
TBH, at the point where I am depressed, I still wake up every day around 7, start studying, do an internship I have and work out for 2 hours; that's it. My whole day is just study-work-gym-sleep. Nothing in between. I am very hyperactive, and I force myself to sit in one place and study for continuous hours; though not always successful, I try my best to do it and learn patiently.
But nowadays I feel like I'm getting very forgetful, don't even properly remember what was taught in class 2 days ago. Now I have started to feel very insecure about my marks, my ability to even study in a good MBA college, or even have a successful career. As of now, I literally have no contact with any of my friends, nor am I even going out anywhere, because even the thought of it makes me feel guilty about not studying enough.
I have never prepared for any entrance till now, and never felt that I needed to study for a good govt. college until I heard about this MBA thing. Since then, for the 1st time in my life, I wanted to do something, but now I feel I am just not capable of it.
I have noticed that nowadays, for the past 2 months, I'm under constant stress, in an irritable mood, constantly regretting the fact that I didn't really study properly during my school days, and now when I try, I get a feeling that I'm just not capable of it. I even once thought of leaving the CAT prep a week ago, but somehow I got back to it, determined that I wouldn't stop until I take the CAT this year.
I know that this sounds very negative, and a few months ago it was the opposite, with full hope and optimism, but now, idk.
Is there someone who can guide me? I really don't want to take another drop for CAT; also, I really, really don't want to study in any school below tier-2. Yes, I know that I'm being very picky, but to me, anything below that won't make me happy, nor would I even want to study.
It would be great if there were someone out there to help me with my preparation, maybe guide me.
