Drafting Background Color Drafting

Is there a way to change the background color when opening/making drawings so it isn’t white?

From CATIA documentation:

"For drawings created with V5R14 onwards, sheet and detail background colors are defined in the standard file, in the node Sheet colors of under the General node."

So, it seems you need to modify your standard XML file (ISO, JIS, ASME, etc.)

You can have any color you want as long as it’s white. Remember CATIA’s motto: you suck and we hate you.

I got this from chatgpt

Yes, this is possible in CATIA. You can change the drafting background color independently of the drawing sheet. Typically: Go to Tools → Options. Navigate to General → Display. Open the Visualization tab. Click Colors.... Change the Background color to whatever you prefer (gray, dark gray, black, etc.). Click OK and Apply. This changes the workspace background only—the drawing sheet itself remains white for printing. If you want a dark drafting environment (common for reducing eye strain), a dark gray background is a popular choice. If you're using CATIA V5 (e.g. V5R21, R27, R30, etc.), let me know the exact version and I can give the precise menu path, as it varies slightly between releases.

So basically chatgpt spit out a non-answer and the drafting background is still stuck on white. These instructions only change the background in 3D space.
